You know, the filling inside the cartridges. Mine are Penstyle.

Mine vary from just a few strands to a pillow stuffed in there. Some have a little, white opaque piece of plastic on the bottom end and some don't.

I bought Fluval, how should I cut it to be the core? Full length? Loose fit or stuffed tight. or somewhere in between?

They're not all consistent. Poor quality control at the factory. I pull some out of the tightly packed core, and fluff it up. If they're packed too tight, they won't let the juice flow. Too loose, and the juice will run. You just have to experiment and get a feel for it.

Yeah Thats How Everything is...

But The Fix With New Fluval. Try To Cut 1/2 to 3/4 Length and Fill The Width, Don't Jamm It. It Will Work Fine. Be Sure To Wash The Fluval With Some Water Before or After You Cut it, Squeeze Out The Water and You Can Stick It In (it should dry quick), Be Sure to Cut The Extra Loose Fibers or Hangers When Ever You Remove The Cart. :D

Hope That Helps.
