We have a large portable generator, almost whole house size. We had an electrician install an outlet on an outside wall that brings power from the generator into the house during outages. There's a transfer switch in our breaker box to switch to the generated power. We can run the furnace, fridge, well, lights and the freezers. Not as easy as a whole house set up, but it works.
That's what we're going to do next. For now we had a pigtail added to our furnace when we replaced the central air, a quick cheap way to keep the furnace running in an outage. That and a Rube Goldberg web of extension cords and surge strips is enough for now to power everything important.

When we lose power here it helps to be a high stepping walker so you don't trip and hang yourself. I got tired of tracking down the cords and all. I bought a new set of the cords and adaptors we need. It is stashed next to the generator so it is start the machine, grab the bag of cords and start pluging stuff in.

Has anyone ordered from FT lately? I placed an order over 2 weeks ago and it still hasn’t shipped. I’ve emailed about it twice with no response, which isn’t like them. I was under the impression they were slowly getting back to business. Anyone else having this issue?

I ordered a Pumper 21 on the 26 of February and it was shipped out 4 days after I placed the order.
I hope you get it sorted:)

I guess since FT just ship stuff their supply chain is dependent on multiple factories all over China. Their suppliers will come back on line in fits and starts. And whatever customer service they have operating is probably buried in inquiries.

That’s probably the issue, that most of the items I ordered weren’t in stock. Still, I wish they’d acknowledge my email. I guess I need to be patient as all of the items I ordered is stuff that I REALLY want and can’t get elsewhere

Check the status of the actual items you ordered. 1 item may just be holding up the whole order.

Under your account, click on Unshipped Orders, then click on Details, Options, Support
It shows each product line by line, If one is still a few days out, click on the cancel item link.

    Good idea, thanks!
Eta: looks like 2 items were holding it up. They’ve been cancelled

Things are slowly getting shipped. A couple weeks ago, I had 5 Chinese orders I was waiting for. 4 of them have recently shipped. The last one, an FT order, had one item holding it up, but it is now being restocked. So it should be out in a day or two.

If your well's pump is hardwired into your electrical system, you may have to get an expensive whole-house generator which is hooked into your hose's electrical service. Not cheap.
You do not need a "whole-house" generator to run a 240V well pump. I've done it on several occasions at our cabin with a 6500 watt Honda "portable" one. You just need a way to back-feed the house. How easy or complicated that is will depend on the layout of the house, where the service entrance is, where the electric panel is, and whether you're willing to ignore "codes".

We lost power for a few days one time. My brother took a portable generator and hooked it right to the panel. I didn’t see exactly how, but he threw the main, and the non essential breakers. It was enough to keep the fridge and freezer going, and a couple lights.

Call it crazy, but the fact is those who are prepped are those who have the best chance at survival.

Believe me, if/when we'll get to the point where the "walking dead" will be out on the streets, toilet paper will be your last concern anyways :danger:

    Somewhere out there
The company I work for has canceled their appearance at 2 trade shows, one in Europe, one in the US.

I suspect we'll go to "work at home" for everyone who can, sooner rather than later.

I have 3 packages from China due in today, orders placed on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of Feb. I don't plan on any special handling, except to toss the packaging ASAP.
