Cotton Correctly

Okay so I just did my first rdas build a few days ago, doge v2 and Dark Horse.
With both RDAs I'm getting some nasty spitting.. I've read it's from not using cotton correctly.

I can't post my own pictures so I tried looking up google a picture similar to how I'm putting my cotton in.
(Cotton Balls, Rolling them up, Sliding through coil then putting excess to fill the bottom of well)
His cotton looks wayyyyyy different than mine though, His is really stringy and some of it comes above the well, I made sure none of mine was above the well walls.

Yea usually when the wick doesnt fill the coil enough they start spitting and popping when they are loose air gets behind the coil allowing the pops to spit out.


If the wick is ok the only other thing could be too much liquid and the bottom edge of the coil is sitting in the puddle where it then boils the juice.

That be an ugly build and wick job. Get some KohGenDo or Shiseido pads and cut some nice strips. You'll be in wick heaven!!

It would help enormously if you were able to post pictures of your setup, rather than Quasimodos first build.

Also, sometimes even a great wick will spit for a while when you first start vaping with it; it can take a few hours to settle down sometimes. If it doesn't settle down in a couple hours, then I usually re-do it, because I hate getting popped in the mouth with hot ejuice. At least a kayfun has a chimney; with my Magma, I use one of those "cylindrical swivel" drip tips, because then your lips aren't right over that temperamental spitting coil.

I only do very simple builds on my rm2 but I think that is a very impressive build. I will have to say after trying readyxwich, rayon, cotton balls, hemp, some kind of wool stuff, that I will only use KGD style pads now for my wicks. I just love it. This is just my preference and I hope you don't mind me suggesting this. Good luck to you and I am sure will get this tiny issue resolved.

it could also be the juice you're using. if the company you got it from diluted it a little with water then it may pop a lot more

I had this problem. It was due to improper wicking and over dripping. Think of water when it hit a hot skillet. Flip your RDA upside down and see how much extra juice comes off it. And check your wicks. Best of luck!
