Do we think there is a problem/danger with cotton if you never actually burn the wick you made? I rarely burn a cotton wick that I know of (meaning noticing visually, smell and/or by taste). Even if I did burn a cotton wick once or twice a week and get a taste of it, and, inhale that, I'm hoping that is it safer than me smoking 15-20 cigarettes a day.
The only time I notice a cotton taste is from a new wick on the first couple burns, but I don't inhale the first few and usually try to burn the taste out before vaping. I think everyones input and advice is important. Silica concerns me more than cotton and/or ekowool even knowing silica has the high heat resistance when heating the coils.
I understand what others point out, that we quit smoking to get away from the burning aspect, but think about sitting around a camp fires, grills, fireplaces we can go on and on about what we breath.
My only advice could be is to make certain your wicks stay wet and they never burn
