cotton wick issues on a protank

I've been using cotton on my protank heads for about a month now and I have really come to love the flavor but......

the last couple of weeks I am having a major problem. I can build and use them with no problem then I go out whether to work or whatever and they start to leak like a sieve to the point they don't hit. Ive tried less cotton more cotton to no avail. the only thing I notice is they work fine in my house but when I go out problems crop right up. I'm Diy my juice 80pg/20vg
I can use a stock head with no problems but I just don't get the flavor from silica.

I'm beyond fustrated at this point and i'm hitting on my latest build now without issue but before i get to work in the morning the gurgle will start. Any ideas what is going on will be appreciated.

Maybe it's the difference in temperature, at this time of year?

I have read several complaints about leaks caused by big temperature changes so maybe its not your wick material causing the problem. I haven't experienced any of these issues personally (knock on wood). I know that doing my own cotton wicks has stopped my Kanger PT2 from flooding so I've been pretty happy with that!

My guess, too, is temperature differentials. Even elevation changes affect my rebuilt cotton Protank heads. I generally use a small flavor wick on top of the coiled wick and that has largely curtailed the leaking. Good luck to you!

Will raising the vg help with this ? this is what i'm thinking is the cause of the problem as well.

I keep mine upside down.

And before you take a vape hold to ear and press button; if it is flooded, hold it horizontal or tilted up to unflood then it will SNAP CRACKLE POP! Then it's ready; but there would be eliq in the centre tube

If temperature change is the problem, putting it in a case or wrapped in a small cloth might make a difference.

I flip the rubber grommet on all my pt rebuilds. If you think rubber is bad check my blog for Home Depot oring fix too.

I also do 50/50 or higher vg blends which possibly might help too.

Does the flooding start when going from a warm area to a cold area or when going from a cold area to a warm area?

Temperature can cause to leaking and flooding. I have the opposite seasonal problem. The temperature change from outdoor Louisianan summer to indoor AC will cause my devices to leak and flood. LOL

From Warm to cold. I've tried a flavor wick once again and that has helped but causes the problem of poor hits from too much cotton , I guess I can't win lol
