Cotton vs cotton yarn?

Yarn for anything except RDAs. Just started using it but I'm rebuilding my kayfun with it and it makes keeping things consistent about 10x easier when wicking is super important like that.

Tried it in a Trident and was unimpressed in a dripper.

BadTrainDriver .... I don't boil the yarn (but I guess you could) ... It stays together much much better than cotton balls

I use #1 Premium grade cotton......Q-TIPS...yup johnson& johnson q-tips have it in my R91% for the last week, works great...I just pull it streight off the end...

I was told I didn't have to boil the cotton if I bought sterile cotton. Is that wrong?

I think just about all cotton balls say "sterile" on them ... I never boiled any cotton balls I ever used.

Some people seem to think boiling them makes for better flavor ... I can't tell any difference.

Like I said before ... I don't boil cotton yarn either. Seems to be a waste of time.

Nope. I just buy the White Peaches and Cream from Walmart. I do boil a few strands and let it dry. Thread it thru the coil and it's good to go.

Thanks Keonee, good to know, I drive a big truck and it is easier to find a Walmart than a Michaels that you can park a big rig in. I need to attempt to wrap coils again because replacement not so easy on the road. Learning to rebuild made a bit more difficult on the road due to cramped quarters and poor lighting, but I gotta stick with it. I think.

I first tried the cotton balls. Too much trouble. Then tried the yarn. Worked great for the first 1/4-1/3 tank and then started gurgling. Then tried cotton cooking twine Buy 100% Natural Cotton 500-Foot L Cone Cooking Twine from Bed Bath & Beyond and have been a happy camper since.

I do boil (twice) as it is natural, unbleached.

The above is a testimonial for use on PT coils only, as I have not tried it on anything else.

I've also tried bamboo thread and didn't care for it at all. Weird taste.

I use CVS Organic cotton balls to wick all my RBA's. I could really care less if they are organic or not, but as it turns out, I prefer the consistancy of the CVS organic cotton balls versus regular cotton balls. I don't boil them.

I use Peaches and Cream cotton yarn to wick Protank heads. I wrap coils at 1/16" ID, and a full strand fits snuggly and wicks well for me, without leaks.

As mentioned earlier, I have also noticed that it takes awhile for the yarn to start wicking, but once it does, it's great. Might have to pick up some of the yarn from Michael's next time I'm out.

I had a Kayfun clone that I never even got 1 tank of juice finished in it ... Flooded no matter what wick I used in it.

Bought an original Kayfun, and have not had 1 problem with it

Peaches and Creme along with cotton balls here, depends how much of a hurry I am in...heh
Both taste the same, could tell a difference without boiling, so I boil them now.....

I find peaches and cream works best for me in pt2 rebuilds and cotton balls are what I use in all my rbas. I do actively use both though.

Get it from Michaels ... 2 bucks

Do you boil this before using? Does it stay together?
I'm currently using organic cotton balls...but this looks a lot more convenient, getting the right amount to use and everything.

Okay. Scratch what I said about not using it in RDAs. Rewicked my Omega with yarn last night and absolutely love oit. Holds juice like crazy. Get am extra 2 hits with yarn vs cotton balls.

100% cotton yarn, boiled, for anything with top feed (Taifun, spheroid, heron,) Non boiled Maxim balls for dripper's or anything that wicks from below (gennies ect).
