I have look through these forums for an answer and I cannot find an answer to why this keeps happening to me....

Everytime I wrap a micro coil and stick cotton thru it saturate it hit it a couple of times in the middle of the coil my cotton always always burns and when I pull it out my cotton is already split into 2 differ pieces and it's black so I kno it's burning...

I have tried re coiling my wire as low as .8 - 1.6 ohms and it continues to happen

I have tried rewicking lots of cotton and to as less as a pinch of cotton and it still happens

What I use:
Magneto
18490 battery
Igo l
30 gauge
Organic cotton

I got so tired of it that after every hit I would drip just to see if it would not burn but it still does

Someone please help with this situation on why it continues to burn

Sounds like you might still be using too much cotton for the coil. Cotton swells quite a bit and can choke itself in the coil. If you wrapping a larger id coil, make sure the cotton is loose and give it a couple hours soak time to swell and fill the coil firmly.

Try wrapping a 1.5 to 1.6 mm coil and pull the cotton in. The cotton should slide in with very little resistance, and give it at least 15 minutes soak time before vaping.

Check out the links at the first of this thread, also some of the photos out toward the end of the thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...271-micro-coils-increase-vapor-flavor-th.html

one thing you can try is to make a separation in the middle of your coil. when making your micro make a gap in the middle, maybe about 1/16 of an inch before continuing the rest of the wraps. this should help but doesn't really address the real issue of why this is happening in the first place. maybe try using a thicker gauge wire or larger diameter coil, this also should help. i have been using micros for a while and never had this issue, obviously your cotton isn't keeping wet enough which could be various reasons

Two different ways to wick with cotton balls or rolled cotten; one is to roll a tight wick between your fingers before insterting, another is to keep the cotton loose and fluffy when pulling it through the coil. I've found I prefer keeping the cotton loose with organic cotton balls, while with sterile rolled cotton I get better results with a tightly rolled wick. If you do one way, try the other to see if you get better results.

Either method requires very little cotton, if the cotton has shoulders or bulges at all at the ends of the coil means too much cotton. After doing your cotton wick, you can slowly add drops to just one end of the cotton and make sure the other end gets wet, this shows that the cotton is wicking through the entire coil.

Thank you for all the replies in the little time really appreciated

I have saturated over night and yet it still burns in the middle

To much cotton but how if I'm just pinching off so little and I have rolled a loose and tight wick

When I first started with cotton it did have shoulders but now I make wicks go in so easily and easy to feed thru the coil

I haven't tried making a break in the middle of a coil I was told to try that but do u know any videos that show a tutorial I'm a visual person

That coil looks ok, might want to trim the length a little. From the height of the coil it might wicking faster than your dripping causing the hottest spot...the middle to burn.

Try lowering the coil a little, just high enough it doesn't touch the base, it should pick up excess juice from the base faster that way. You could also try putting just a pinch of cotton, very little between the coil and base and lastly keep it wet, if cotton is drying out at all when firing it's going to burn.

Good advice here. The amount of cotton your using diameter wise looks good. Trim the ends of the cotton up a bit, and tuck em into the juice well. Lower your coils and get em a bit closer to the walls of the top cap, load it up with juice, and fire away.

One last thing - make sure that your airhole is centered on the coil when you place the top cap on - if you're not dragging air directly across the coil, that could be the reason for your coil burning too hot, as low ohm drippers rely as much on airflow as juice to keep the coils from overheating.

Here's a pic of my latest setup. While mine includes three more coils than yours, it may help you see how I position my coils.

I'm using 70vg/25pg
Thanks again for all the replies

Since majority of the people say the wick is fine I'm going to keep it that way and I will lower my coil down never realize it was to high... I had a vape store show me and teach and they had it this high but hey whatever works and helps

Ill post a pic in a little

Doesn't really look like too much, but your coil is definitely too high. You want it to be directly in line with your air hole in the top cap and the tail of cotton on the right side should be cut just past the coil, then wrap the left tail around the inside of your RDA... Something like this...

Having the same issues here. I'm finding that the juice I use has a higher PG ratio than my other juices and I'm wondering if that is the culprit. At first it was definitely the amount of cotton I was using, as I was REALLY packing it in there. I backed up and then packed my cotton more like the pictures you've provided and I get MUCH better performance, but in the end I always end up with the black buildup right in the middle of my coil. I've tried 32g, 30g, 29g, and 28g but still have the same results. I've found that running a core of silica in the cotton will help, but it still happens. I'm starting to think it's more a heat dissipation issue of nano-coils and high PG juice.

Edit: looks like it doesn't matter what ratio the PG/VG is in.

I with others, cotton looks fine, coil just needs to line up with the airhole. Solves the mystery of the burning cotton, if the coil isn't getting correct airflow it'll get much hotter.

My preference is for a much shorter wick, here's a few pics..
