You are welcome. 100% Cotton yard or crochet thread is available at Walmart, Joanns, Michaels, Hobby Lobby and many places on line. Look on the label for 100% Cotton and you should be ok. Mercerized cotton is ok, some say it absorbs more liquid.

I purchase white because I don't want to deal with fabric dye. White cotton yarn / crochet thread does contain bleach. Most of, if not all, of the bleach is gone in the boiling you are going to do to it. Remember: the water you drink contains chlorine.

PS - Thank you, Sonic for moving this.

PSS - Make sure there is NO fragrance in the cotton. Some do contain fragrance. Don't ask me why, I have not idea why, but they do!

If you explore this forum, you'll see a few threads on cotton for wicking. I use cotton makeup rounds from walmart in my drunker tanks. Just cut off very thin slivers and thread it through the coil. You have to let it soak in a couple hours. I've been meaning to pick up some of the peaches and cream yarn but keep forgetting. You can't dry burn cotton, it has to be kept wet. I like it better than silica.

I boil my Butchers Twine in the microwave using a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup filled up to 3 cups for 20 minutes. Usually about 4 foot at a time. Then I run cold water into the cup so the hot water rolls over the top. This keeps the twine from picking up some of the residue released into the water from the boiling.

I got the Butchers Twine from Tractor Supply I first found it on the web site and my local store had to get it from another store using the SKU #. Koch Industries Cotton Butchers Twine, 370 ft. Ball - Tractor Supply Online Store so call your local store first.

I have tried "natural" from Hobby Lobby, Twisted Twine from Walmart, Cotton from CVS and prefer the Butchers Twine 100% cotton meant for cooking.

So how does one quickly go about changing juice flavors with cotton wicks? Currently I'm rinsing & drying out the parts, doing a dry burn or 3, then loading up with new juice. But since I cant dry burn cotton, & it needs to soak for a while ..... ???

You're right, no dry burning! I only use T3's so I always have backups and don't need a "quick" replacement. Might be an issue for the more expensive device users though. The dry burn is more for cleaning the coils than for use I think.

I have been soaking my heads in vodka between uses and use a small dental brush to clean, then dry them out over night.

To be honest, I have been experimenting with the thread thickness' to stop the T3 gurgling, so at 4 cents a rebuild I haven't really re used but a couple.

For the expensive RBAs, but cheap atomizers too. I have several viva clones (aClear) in rotation, with kamthal in the vape mail since I heard cotton may be more healthier than silica, may taste better (as long as u keep it wet), and of course saves a few pennies wrapping your own. Then realized about every other day I change up 1 of the tanks with a new flavor - takes maybe 5 minutes now. But with soaking the wick and no dry burning, seems there's no fast swap-out option anymore, and there still may be some gunk and old juice flavor on the coil since it can't be dry burnt.

Would this work for RBA's or Vivi Novas???

Square Braided 100% Cotton wick

Seems cheap enough at $5.99 for 10 yards.. I just got my first RBA and was looking for something in cotton that was
easier to use than cotton balls that I could also use in the wife's Vivi

Should at least 2mm(1/0 size). Maybe others could give a better idea of the size needed.

Here is my cost breakdown using Butchers Twine and 32awg A1 Kanthal wire.

Hot diggie dog, that's why I am part of a awesome community. Got the PDF file, now for more reading before I buy anything else! Seems like I've read so much about cotton I've got it stuck to my
eyelids..LOL Having something on my desktop will be nice. PLUS, I have a dozen T3's that have
been laid to rest maybe this can help them. excuse me while I read your great looking PDF..

Edit: Nice read and very well done! Your process is simple and straight forward so even I can understand
and achieve success on a T3. :) They were a pain for a good while is why we moved to Vivi's and now a RBA and laid them to rest in a dark cold juice closet.. hehe

I'll give the T3's another shot using your method. Time for a trip to Tractor Supply for some Butcher Twine and try it before buying the other mentioned above.

Now, Wonder can the twine be used in the RBA??
If the twine can work in a T3 will it work in a Vivi Nova and their longer wicks?

Don't see why not. Be sure to call your local Tractor Supply first to make sure they have it. My store had to get it from another location. Reference the SKU# when you call. Koch Industries Cotton Butchers Twine, 370 ft. Ball - Tractor Supply Online Store

The "post" had updated information that the PDF didn't. One strand (12 threads) plus 5 threads for the T3.

Here's where I get my wire.

Good luck!
