For me the best is regular cotton balls. Yeah sheets/pads are a little easier to work with, but at 10x the price not worth it. Fact is once in the atty and primed, I can't tell the difference between 1 brand/type and the next.. Yeah I have to boil my balls, but them I boil fancy vaping pads also. Not because it needs it, like bleached cotton, but because I think boiled cotton performs better than unboiled cotton. To me, Cotton is cotton.

In this order...(for me)

1. Cotton Bacon 2.0
2. Texas Tuff, Raw Cotton
3. Koh Gen Do

I am about to try Rayon this weekend...

I tried Rayon and it was OK. I have a large box of Sally's Cellucotton Rayon. I'm still not convinced that all rayon is 100% pure after all the heavy acidic chemicals used in the process of breaking it down and reconstituting the fibers.

Cotton is pure and simple. Yes, you get little dark dots in the less processed version, but it's more chemical free.

I ordered Kho Gen Do from Amazon, $12 w/ free shipping. It's soft, clean, and you get a huge amount in the bag. The bag looks small in the picture, but it's about 6"x6" x2" thick. It's enough to fill a cigar box and it's in stacks of sheets about 3x2 inches, 80 sheets in all. Just peel one off and cut it with scissors and lightly roll the strip. I won't need any more for at least 2 or 3 years. It's soft and fluffy and cleaner than Sally's cotton coil. I just cut a strip and roll lightly before installing.

I've pretty much used up my first sheet of KGD out of a pack of 3 bought back in July. Then I've got several other packs of cotton sheets that came with RBAs and an RTA. I'm probably set for several years. Just another reason to love my Evod atties! Takes barely a whisp of cotton to rewick them.

There are several as you can tell from the many answers above, and all of them are good, and not to add to the confusion there is also Rayon which is also good and many folks like that. I've tried them all before going with Ko Gen Doh. It seems to absorb the best to me and last long enough. But it's all up to you. Try them out if you have Buddy's that have different materials and see what you like the best.

I switch back and forth between KGD and Sally's cotton coil. Occasionally, I will use a Sally's rayon wick. There's a subtle taste difference in the three. I think KGD saturates and maintains saturation a little better than Sally's cotton. Rayon is the winner for wicking and vapor production, but I haven't really committed to vaping it regularly.
