Itching is driving me mad at nights. The itching is there during the day, but at night times it seems uncontrollable. Can't sleep for scratching. This is something new for me, and only started since i have been vaping. The first week or so i never noticed it, but it is getting progressively worse.

Also now constantly coughing up Phlegm. I think i can put that down to my lungs cleaning up after years of smoking but it seems to be getting worse, not better. Are these normal side effects? if so how long do they last?

I vape PG and VG. Plain tobacco, no flavors or colors. Any ideas please.

The itching is very likely the result of a PG allergy. It is not particularly common, but it does happen. Try switching to pure VG juice, and the itching should go away.

Everyone goes through the "lung cleanout" thing when they stop smoking, but it shouldn't last more than a couple weeks. It is possibly related to your probable PG allergy, but maybe not. If the problem persists after you switch to VG, you should definitely see a doctor.

I agree about how everyone has a lung clean out. But if you right about him having an allergy to his PG/VG juice then it would cause the extra "phlem" as well.

But if it's just the tobacco residue cleaning out it will last about a month or so and it gets worse before it gets better. I really all depends on what condition your lungs were when you switched and how long you smoked tobacco and if you completely switched or are smoking still every once and awhile.
But again mine and a few others I have talked to during a complete switch lasted about a month of coughing and hacking every once and awhile to get all the "cud" out of your lungs.

Hows yours skin?
Dry? Red/patchy?
I ask cos I had itchy skin the first week - it wan't an allergy it was the drying effects of either PG/VG - also had the phlegm btw and itchy eyes too. Im not really an allergic person - bit of grass pollen this time of year is about it - but I used some emoillent cream with anti-itch (its for allergies, but extra moisturising), eye drops, and drank a ton of water. It went away after about 10 days (and it was less every day but it didnt GO completly til then).
No clue if yours is the same but I just thought Id throw that out there.

I wonder if thats what been happening to Sarge, my dog. He's been real itchy past 2 weeks and he always hangs around me when I vape. He has no fleas so I'm wondering...

Well, we are into one of the worst allergy seasons on record, and animals get allergies, too. That could be the cause. On the other hand, PG could ALSO be the cause. Try vaping in a different room than him and see if his itching decreases. In the meantime, give him some benadryl for the itch.

I am no doctor but i would be getting some benadryl. I had the same kind of reaction once from using adhesion promoter on a cars bumper. Drove me crazy benadryl knocked it right out. Its had to believe our lungs can generate so much crap. And no for you comedians i wasnt trying to vape the adhesion promoter.

Oh come on now Freeze you can tell us the truth... :)

I found that the back of my hands were really itchy for about a week when I first started, but not so much so that I couldn't sleep! I would also recommend Benadryl, but NOT for the dog. Medications for humans are MADE for humans. (Trust me, I'm a paramedic, not a vet!)

If the dog is still scratching, go to your local vets office and ask if they have an OTC remedy FOR him.

ANOTHER issue to explore, as gross as it is, is bedbugs. They're nasty little buggers and this IS the time of year for them. Take a magnifying glass and give the bed a GOOD eyeball. They are TINY! (I've had more than one patient in the past that had them in residence and we've had to spray out the ambulance a FEW times!) They're no bigger than a grain of PEPPER!

Good luck to BOTH of you! (Cute dog, btw)

My brother's dog had a severe allergic reaction to a shot he received (covered head to tail in hives!), and the vet recommended benadryl. It worked like a charm. Like I said before, you just have to be very careful with the dose. Definitely get some instructions from the vet first.

Benadryl for dogs: 1mg. per pound is quite safe.

Itching can also be from tobacco smoking withdrawal...if there is no sign of redness or weird little bumps that would sort of explain some of it. MAO inhibtors not present in e-liquid as they are in tobacco. A lot of people complain about weird dreams, insomnia, etc., as well. Sometimes even digestive problems crop up. If your symptoms last more than a couple weeks you should look into it medically. MAOI's (medication) is used as an anti-depressant.
MAOIs give you a feeling of euphoria.
The coughing can be relieved by making sure you drink enough H2O!! If your throat seems sore you may be experiencing more drying from PG, I also had to switch to VG based ejuice. Either one though requires you to rehydrate your tissues with enough water to stave off irritation.

Feedback on this subject seems to point a finger at PG being the culprit. So today i have vaped VG. So far after 9 hours the itches seem to be disappearing but tonight in bed will be the real test.

OK lets assume it is a PG reaction. I have got over 500ml of PG liquid. Question is, can i add VG to dilute the PG, or do i just bin it.

    •Drowsiness
    •Dizziness

    •Indigestion or heartburn
•Thickening of bronchial secretions (chest mucus).

    Other reported side effects include:

    •Sensitivity to the sun
    •Excessive sweating and/or chills
    •Dry mouth, nose, or throat
    •Fatigue
    •Restlessness, excitation, nervousness, or irritability
    •Shakiness (tremor)
    •Insomnia
    •An unusual, pleasant feeling (euphoria)
•Unusual sensations, such as tingling or numbness
    •A spinning sensation (vertigo)
•Loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting
    •........ or constipation
    •Nasal stuffiness
    •Early menstrual period.
