Coughing problem.

Hi everyone.

So yes, I'm a newbie and I started my way with eGo, which I used for 8 months or so.

Now I've bought:

And as soon as I begin vaping, my throat begs me not to, because of too strong TH and also I cough after each inhale.

Using OCC coil heads, but thinking of using rba atomizer that was in the box with Subtank.

Hello and welcome to the @i2gor87. Glad to have you here!

Most people cut their nicotine level by at least 50% when they move to a subΩ setup. More vapor = more juice = more nicotine = more throat hit.

That most likely why you are coughing.

You might also want to get juice with a higher vg level because pg also adds throat hit. I only use 3mg nic with anything subohm. 6mg makes my throat scratchy.

Also play around with your watts , starting low and going up if needed.
Don't forget to prime the coils by putting some eliquid on the wick , some down the top of the coil and on each juice hole.

DId you cough during the 1st 8 months when you were using your EGO? Bet the answer is no.

One of reasons I never went to a 50 watt (!!!) mod. It doesn't matter what I vape or at what nic level or pg/vg mix......I literally can't take it. And, there are plenty of people like me.

Coughing is never a good sign. It is your body trying to tell you something i.e. irritation

Cut back the nic, cut back the PG, and if that doesn't help, then go back to a less powerful mod and use single coils.

I have a vaporshark DNA20 and I'm going to have to sell it cuz I literally can't vape above 8 watts.

If you jumped from a basic ego set up to something like the subtank the coughing is probably irritation from not being used to it. Most people cough for the first little while when starting vaping as your body adjusts. This should go away in time as you adapt, but it may be wise to get something between the basic ego starter stuff and a full subtank. Like a nautilus or something. I think you just jumped up too far too fast.

If you have two of the same flavor, you can mix the 0 nic with the other to cut the nic in half and still retain all the flavor.

Yeah I was on around a 12 then cut to a 6 them down to 3 but trying a 6 now kills me lol. Low nic and high VG

Wow, thank you very much for your answers. I tried 6mg with 17.9W/3.2V/0.6Ohm and now I can vape it like a normal cigarette. Bet I don't do it in a proper way, but I do get my portion of nicotine after all =) Now what I'm trying to do is to buy 18mg and 0mg then mix it by 1/4 proportion. Will it give me 3mg liquid in the end? Oh yes, and I did the same mistake as @Kari Berry Punch - I bought 100 ml of 18 mg. Now I think that it's the best way to commit suicide =)

Take 1 part of the 18mg and add 5 parts of the 0mg to get 3mg.
eg 10 mls 18mg + 50mls 0mg = 60mls 3mg.

Divide the nic by the number that gives you the end nic level you want , then divide the size of the amount you want to make by that number and the number you get is the amount of the liquid with the nic in you want to add.

eg want 6mg nic from 24mg to make 100mls then 24 / 4 = 6 and 100 / 4 = 25 so you would start with 25mls of the 24mg then add pg/vg / flavour etc to get to 100mls.

Wow, thank you @Wolfenstark , I would definitely write this formula down - it's amazingly simple =) Every other calculator messes with pg, vg, aroma and water while I definitely want to take xx nic liquid and mix it with 0 nic liquid =) Will surely try this =)

if you double the watts you need to half the mg nicotine strength.

Glad you got it all figured out. Just in case someone finds this thread later with the same question and the answer is not the nicotine level, make sure that you are pre saturating the replaceable coil heads. I made the mistake of vaping a fresh coil head right off the bat and got a horrible burnt, dry hit.
