Hi all,
I was wondering what was the method most people use to keep track of their puffs? I've been timing myself at four minutes, which gives me an average of about 20 to 24 puffs. Would it be better to count them? And if yes, does anybody use a click counter to count puffs? I was smoking 3 cartons a month. I'm on a budget and need to be aware of what I'm spending. So for me, timing my vaping I could equate that to about how many cigarettes I would have in one day. I know it sounds tedious, but I need to keep track of what I'm spending.

Thanks!! :vapor:

I don't count puffs or duration. Had an eVic that kept track of some of those statistics and never really examined it. Why do you want to keep track of it? I could understand some people are afraid of overdoing it on the nicotine but I figure that my body knows best and you can tell when/if you are overdoing it without keeping numerical track of things.

If you need to keep track of what you are spending then go by mills per day. Keeping track of every puff won't be anywhere near accurate. If you take a puff on a cartomizer you might use less than 1 drop for that puff. Take a puff on a rebuildable you may consume 5 drops in that puff.

If you are using a tank system find out how big that tank is. Then keep track of how many times you fill it.

Using a 3ml tank?
Fill it twice a day?
Have about half a tank left at bed time?

3+(3x.5)=3+1.5=4.5
You used about 4.5 mills that day.

paying $20.00 per 30ml?

20/30=0.666 repeating
That comes out to about 67 cents per mill.

Multiply cost per mill by mills used
0.66x4.5= $2.97

So that day cost you less than a 2 bottles of Coca-cola.

But...seriously...Just enjoy your vape :)

Can you just keep track for about a week or so of how much juice you are going through in that time? And about how much it costs?

I smoked about 2 packs a day, although I always bought my cigs by the carton. Two packs a day of the generic brand I smoked at the carton price was about $7 for the day, so for a week that would be $49. There is no way I am going to use up $49 of juice in a week!

There are lots of threads here about people buying, buying, getting many expensive mods, etc. Many people turn vaping into an expensive hobby, and I totally understand that. But you don't have to do it that way to be a successful vaper.

For me, it is a means to an end. I like vaping, and it is a very pleasant way to not smoke cigarettes anymore. After you have your basic set up that you like, and that performs well, the only expense you will have is replacement heads/coils, and juice. It is really a pretty minimal expense compared to buying cigarettes.

From various surveys, the average usage is 3 - 5ml a day. So about $1.00 - $2.50 a day depending on how much you pay for eliquid. Much less than smoking, even at the high end.

The amount of puffs will depend on the battery you are using the type coil and the ohms of said coil. You will be better off starting the week with one 30ml bottle of juice and seeing how long it lasts with your equip. There are lots of variables with dif equip but it will give you an idea of what you need to make it through the month. I am retired and live month to month.

I based mine on how many drags I would get from a cig. I started there and if I needed an extra or 2 to satisfy my craving I did that. I try and put off using the device as long as I can then use it like I'm smoking a cig. usually around 10 drags does the trick for me if I had to say how many times I use the device as in how many cigs it would equate to I'd say maybe a pack a day. so I use it 20 times for 10 hits each time. This is a guesstimate for me but honestly I don't pay much attention I just use it as needed till I'm happy with the session.

I love minds that can do math and make sense of things (Nate). I am of the "if I have 2 oranges and you have 6 donuts, how many strawberries are left" school of math.

I also have a puff counter that I have never really paid attention to. What I DO pay attention to is how much juice I buy, how much it costs, and how long until I need more. I am way below what I spent on cigs in terms of juice (we will not count the shiny things I have bought). My rule of thumb is that I am allowed to spend on vaping in a month what I spent on cigs in a week. Right now I am spending way less because I have a cupboard full of juice (stay away from the e-juice discussion part of the forum) and have enough cartos and batteries and so forth to last for a few months at least.

Thanks Nate Rager for doing the math! Much appreciated!! :vapor:
