The cracking and popping is the equivalent of the bubbles you see forming in your kettle when you boil water, especially early on, right before you get steady boiling, when you sort of hear a loud noise coming from the water.
That is gas bubbles forming, which is surrounded by a large body of liquid at a lower temperature.

When you've left your atomiser sitting for a while, you have plenty of liquid around your coils. You suddenly give it a huge boost of power and gas forms right next to the coil, which is surrounded by plenty of colder liquid, thus popping and crackling.

The cure to this, as others have mentioned is using more cotton in your coil and/or lowering the preheat, if your device has this function.

this is mine as you can see theres quite a bit of liquid. i dont know much about wicking but seems like it was quite tight through the coil and at the sides

Yea I just lowered the preheat helped it out a little but I think my problem is not enough cotton
The problem is too much juice on the coil...
while I agree the cure are adjusting the wick and power to compensate. I will caution it might not be the amount of wick in the coil causing the issue.. I missed what atty this is. This can also be caused by too little cotton in the tails with some tanks. Too much flow. Can even be caused by over dripping a dripper.

its a ijoy 200w. imc-7 deck think they stainless coils. n screen says they are at 0.35. im only on about 40watts and 200c. ive just re wicked it used a bit more cotton. think its a combo of juice being too thin and prob not enough wick
That looks better, how is it now?

I recently started spacing my SS316 coils to allow TC mode and I've had popping far more than normal. Thicker wicking helps. I use Kho Gen Do cotton on a 2mm coil and mine is tight enough that I have to twist the wick as I thread it through to prevent coil leg bending.

Air space between the wick and coil does contribute to popping. I hate it when it blows a drop through the drip tip ... Yuk. The right wick size minimizes spitting and sputtering. A new or freshly dry burned coil is worse for popping and spitting.

well its still crackerling a bit. but its not spitting any out. so its better. i did use a lot of wick had 2 twist it very tight and twist it through the coils to get it through. also a lot tighter down the sides so no leaking whatsoever. and its getting enough juice no dry hits.

Torchy has tests and reviews for Beeway batteries at the link below. Scroll down. They are alphabetical by battery name.
Torchy the Battery Boy: 18650 Batteries / Chargers

From the home page of ECF, search for Mooch to find out all you need to know about batteries for your mod.

Here's his list of batteries that are recommended for use in ecig mods. Check the specs for your mod and find one that matches the amperage requirements. Once you find those that apply to your amp ratings, then compare the MAH ratings for those batteries. Higher is better. The higher the MAH rating the longer you can vape on a charge.

I just changed my coil from a 2mm 10 wrap 28ga back to my long time favorite 2.5mm 10 wrap 28ga. I think I get fewer pops from the 2.5mm coil diameter, but the secret is finding the optimum amount of wicking for your coil. Filling all the space in the coil with wick helps to minimize that. You can pack the wick so tight that juice flow is impeded, so experiment to find the optimum wick amount that work best for flavor, vapor production, and minimal crackling.
