crackle and pop as I draw

Hi Confusednoobie.
I wouldn't worry about it. As stealthmayhem suggests it's just juice.
I kinda like when it does it: after cleaning or recoiling a Kanger say, if done ok, it really 'dances', good bit of fizz and crackle with great vape. Then after perhaps 1/4 to 1/2 a tank it setles down. Still responsive but not so much noise.
Eventually after a few fills it loses its legs, the coils gunk up some, have to turn up the voltage a little, pretty muted sizzle . Then I get annoyed and go wrap a new coil. I don't like dry burning the gunk off and washing coz I've found 1 or two in 5 still don't taste/work good after that. It takes a minute to wrap new.
Same for a genesis except for me dry burning works pretty much every time.

Sorta on topic, are there any potential issues that manifest themselves as a sound? I ask this because I'm extremely hearing impaired (or deaf-ish as I usually refer to myself) and would probably not be able to hear it.

The only thing that I can think of that is related to sound is the audible warning of gasses venting when your battery is going to explode. But that is so rare, and you need a specific set of circumstances for it to happen. A "perfect storm" scenario, ie mechanical mod with unprotected batts that are damaged, overheating and discharging to the case, with poor ventilation, right after charging. If following basic safety standards, you have nothing to worry about.

Is it normal for my VEA to crackle and pop when I draw. I am on my 3rd day of very low usage to avoid any unwanted side effects. Does not always do it but it generally does.
Thanks

As others have said it's normal. Its just the liquid being vaporized by the coils in the cartomizer. So which juices are you trying?

I ordered five Black Cherry, Rainier, Solstice, Merango, and Autumn Crisp. Of the five I definitely don't like the Solstice, the description sounded good with watermelon and all but the menthol kills it for me.

That sounds scary- the batteries can actually explode? Anyone have that happen with a VEA? Thanks

Wow- that is a lot of bottles- as I say, I am just new and a low user. I tried Swiss Dark-expecting to love it but I did not care for it-at all. The Chocolate truffle on the other hand is very nice so I mixed some with the Swiss Dark and it is lovely. But It had to go back due to the PG- I do not handle PG well. I wish it were available in VG. Tundra is a great taste- just about exactly what I am looking for- lots of flavor without a heavy harsh tobacco taste. So far no problems at all with it. Also I want zero nicotine, but I had to buy a couple of 5 ml sample sizes- which have 18mg- until I know which flavors I like. So I am open to suggestions. I just ordered Marcado since I would pick up a pack of clove cigs every 3 years or so for the nice taste. And Solstice- but I guess, that one may not be such a sure thing based on your experience. I like menthol taste- on the rare ocassion when I smoked a cigarette, it had to be menthol- but menthol mixed with watermelon does sound weird. I will have to wait and see. On the JC website someone described it as exactly like a Jolly Rogers candy- and I love that taste so I decided to try it. A 15 ml bottle will last me 3 months or more...so I can't really try a lot. Fortunately they take them back- I did not do well with the PG and they took both of them back.
I did not know whether to go with Marcado or Valencia- the folks at JC said Valencia was more fruity, orange vs clove so I ordered Marcado. Hope that wasn't a mistake. I will probably have to get a 15 ml tobacco flavor in zero nic- thinking domestic- and then buy a few flavors in sample sizes and mix them to reduce their nicotine but still get to sample the flavors.

Technically, no. Lithium ion batteries do not "explode", they can overheat and burst. The bursting of the container seems "explosive".

However, keep in mind that almost every single rechargeable device you have has a lithium ion battery in it. Your cell phone, tablet computer, mp3 player, laptop, you name it. Lithium ion is the most common rechargeable out there. If you're going to worry, you've got a lot of worrying to do.

Oh, also, lead acid batteries can do the same thing. That is, there's always a chance your car will catch fire...

Nothing I, at least, can think of that wouldn't be reflected more in the taste.

In fact, taste would probably give you better indication something went wonky than sound would. The difference in sound between a coil operating normally and a coil frying itself isn't that different. The taste is pretty noticeable though. :)

As mentioned it's normal. As time goes on and the coil becomes covered in juice gunk the crackle and pop will subside meaning juice is not being vaporized as efficiently as when it was new/ fresh.

I like Marcado, it started like a soft gingerbread flavor and steeped to a stronger, spicier gingerbread taste. After a few months through the clove seemed to overwhelm the rest of it, so if you don't love clove above all else vape it sooner rather than later. I didn't care for Valencia, too sweet and syrupy like orange candy. Solstice was the only JC's I've tried and hated. Hated it out of the bottle, 2 weeks later, 3 months later, it's the only juice I've ever trashed. Like cough syrup or Faygo, just fake cherry grossness.

As to the actual topic, I love the crackle. My Protanks seems to crackle the most, especially on a new head, and occasionally the pops are loud enough to almost make me jump. Rarely I'll get such a big pop that I'll actually feel a tiny drop of juice hit my tongue. I love the noise though, so satisfying!
