Why is it that some people don't get cravings while others do. My husband has been quit now for about 7 months and only once did he ever get a craving. Now mind you it was a really bad craving that hurt his whole body and he almost lit up but didn't.
I have read on here that this person or that person has posted about never craving. What am I doing wrong? I still get cravings from time to time. I don't get them often but I still do get them.

Well since the addiction in cigs is a funny thing and we are addicted to the routine as much as anything (although there is evidence that nicotine isn't actually addictive) I would assume that the cravings that people get are at least partially psychosomatic and have to do with what is going on with you at the time. So don't think your doing anything wrong it's just the way your brain works and short of removing it can't see any way round this.
This is my feeling anyway no proof that it's true, but I do get cravings a little when stressed, but not at other times.

for me..after the initial withdrawl from the chemicals in tobacco...
"craving" getting the I'm irritable crawling out of my skin if I don't get a ciggie sensation, I've had a couple times..it's pretty much psychological (a little bit physiological as one time I was in a hospital waiting room and couldn't vape) but it's just an ineffective coping mechanism to stressors..so I've been adding some new effective ones to my "toolbox" if you will...and gotten through the cravings with vaping or doing something else. :)

its' entirely subjective too..it'll vary of course then from individual to individual.

The brain is a funny thing. Some are more addicted to the cocktail of ingredients, that are in the chemical make up of cigarettes, than others.

We are all different and maybe I never actually had those hard cravings for a variety of reasons. It could be I got lucky and used a high enough nic mg content starting out or that I was a dual user for about a month before giving the cigs up completely? There is no cookie cutter explanation that fits everyone.

I still get cravings after more than 2 years. My wife and I started a "tradition" when we quit. Each November when we changed time, we would have a cigar...that one hour doesn't count, right?...kinda like going to Vegas.

This year neither of us could finish our cigar. She snuffed her's out right away...I lingered thru 1/2 of mine but finally realized I would rather vape. Maybe that experience will cure my cravings for good...but I will still have cravings to vape.

Everybody's different. I still craved cigarettes for a few weeks (quite badly) but I managed (mostly by doing almost everything with an APV in hand, lol) and over time, the cravings got less and less.

Once in a VERY great while I'll get a "huh, I would normally be having a cigarette right now, and it would probably be nice to have one" moment, but they pass quickly.

Just hang in there!

I still get a craving every blue moon but think it's more for wanting the old ritual of packing, lighting, flicking the ashes and eventually stubbing it out rather than anything to with what's in the cigarette. I've tried cigarettes twice since quitting, not craving one either time, it was out of curiosity, and both were not pleasant experiences.

Wife and I quit at the same time. I only crave the nicotine but she still craves the cigs themselves. If she sees someone smoking, smells it or sees an ad at a store she wants a cig...bad! Those things don't bother me. Why the difference? Who knows! I do have some health incentive to stop smoking and she doesn't so maybe that makes a difference.

I've only been stopped for just over three weeks and had no craving that a quick Vape didn't cure. Until earlier this evening and out of the blue I had that "I could kill for a cigarette". After chain vaping for a while it was more manageable and I realised it was because I'm on my own. Hubby is away for the day and won't be back until early hours. So - in theory I could have a cigarette and no one would know - but I would so I continue chain vaping and came to have a look here on ECF. I will not give in, the vaping and everyone's support on here have killed that monkey again.

Everyone is different and don't beat yourself up for cravings that you don't give in to. Give yourself a pat on the back and treat yourself to some good e-juice.

Happy vaping :)

My experience and what I've read tells me that burning substances such as tobacco and inhaling them delivers the nicotine and other ingredients in a way that vaping can only mimic once removed. I think, very early on, I accepted that I would never get the same "hit" that I got from cigarettes with vaping. Both the method of delivery (See the studies completed by Dr. Farsolinos.) and the delivery enhancing chemicals in cigarettes will deliver that familiar "hit" that feels like it immediately takes over your whole body. If I miss anything from smoking, it is that powerful feeling that's like the late Lou Reed singing about his favorite drug. A high enough nicotine percentage has helped get past that, and the negatives that come with cigarette smoking (Which I can see much better now that I have been away from it for some time.) far outweigh the pleasure I derived from that hit.

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
Im one of those that don`t really get hard cravings. I smoked for 30 years, the last ten smoking strong cigars.
I tried to quit many times using the patch, the gum (YUCK), simple will power. As soon as I made a sincere change to vaping I went with 36mg, and I think this has helped a great deal with hard core cravings. Still vaping 36 for the TH and nic buz.

Occasionally I get the feeling I should be smoking. I think its just an ingrained conditioned response to seeing it in public or on TV, and what I really miss is the portability and simplicity of the cigarette, its feather light nature and ease of use.

BUT, this initial response is immediately over ruled by my thinking brain with the simple fact that my Fogger loaded with 36mg juice is a superior nicotine delivery system, and a few tokes on it proves the point, and all is well with the world. I love me my nicotine.

I hope you can find your balance. It really is like going digital, with all the common aspects of a superior and stronger product, and much more enjoyable due to the science of the delivery system.

You seem to be going through what i did last week. My husband was away for a few days and this craving hit. But i think it is finally over, today has been a breeze. :)

If your setup combination is working for you then you won't be getting cravings.
If you're getting cravings, then you should probably adjust something about your setup; maybe you just need a higher nic strength.

Now you got me thinking. When my husband was away for those few days, i was using my ego which i haven't used in ages. I had to send my husband on his trip with my VTR batteries so that he would have enough to last him as he had no where to charge them. Oh how i missed my VTR. I was just surprised that once he returned home and i had my VTR back that the cravings were still hanging around. But i made it through and i am sure i wont get another craving like that for awhile.

Strange how i was able to quit smoking with an ego for about 4 months then got my VTR. When i had to use the ego for those few days, i was surprised how i was able to drop the cigs using that. I could never go back to the ego. But i dont put it down because like i said the egos got me to quit smoking.

I'm lucky I haven't had a single craving since iI switched to vaping but for fifteen years before that I was on roll ups not ready made cigarettes and think that helped but in truth I think it's one of those things that's individual and no two people will ever have the same transition. Upping the nic is a quick fix with maybe looking to improve your setup so you get better out of that. I started on 18mg and am still on that and will be happy to vape for the rest of my days government allowing.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong... cravings are a natural part of quitting smoking, whether you have nicotine replacement therapy or not. It could be a mental craving instead of a physical craving, as I would imagine your physical addiction is being taken care of by the ecig. Just my two cents.
