An actual credit card or a debit / prepaid card? I ask because there is a difference and a lot of online businesses have systems set up that will not accept debit / prepaid cards. Years ago when some of these smaller retailers (vape shops) were having their systems hacked and credit card info compromised/stolen semi-regularly I switched to strictly using a debit/prepaid card for all online purchases (or paypal) and have run across several retailers that do not accept them, even some very large retailers.

Odd, never had that with my DC/mastercard

Herb, I'm still a bit confused:

Was this a Sale you were making that was rejected?
or
Was this a Purchase by You that was rejected?

I keep reading this as 2 different dealings.

I use gift cards and late last yr. after using them for a couple of yrs. started having trouble with purchases going through. After several hrs. of checking and a couple of phone calls, found that the problem was with Paypal. I didn't have an account with them, but some of the vendors I was purchasing from did and I was considered a "guest".

Apparently I wore out my welcome and Paypal would NOT let my purchase go through until I made an account with them depriving the vendor who did have an account and paid a fee with each transaction of a sale. Looks like Paypal wanted me to pay a fee on the same transaction to them too.

Paypal once held a refund on a purchase for weeks with no reason given except it was the sellers bank. The purchase had nothing do to with the sellers bank just refunding or issuing credit to my CC. Also know of others who had payments through PP for IT work that was held for months because of the amount of the transaction. The person paying the bill was telling PP to release the funds and they do what they want. they are not governed by any FDIC or banking institutions. F -> PP

Actually, they are well watched by government and have already been before committees to answer allegations.

It was a sale on a Subtank Mini , i'm not a sub ohm er but Katya convinced me it's killer at low wattage and with the 1.2 ohm coils .

The link was on "Deals and Steals" a day or two ago.

I suspect, That maybe the vendor might be using a third party to manage his receivables. When this tactic is used the contracted vendor gets his money up front and the third party gets a percentage of the receivables.
They manage the contracted vendors accounts receivable. And they are the ones looking at a wide array of
criteria to make it feasible.

Thanks herb.

Was this through Paypal?
Lots of touchy moves to get through them from ECF related purchases - Hoops to jump through

Been there :sneaky:, but made it.

Sorry - Steals and Deals
Rejection - Your side - A card company(yours) recognizing seller as Tobacco related and interstate sales.(even if NOT a tobacco product)
Seller side - possibly to many charge-backs returning a poor Vendor rating. Caught up in political balancing of approvals.

Using cards is getting tricky in many venues due to several things including, but not limited to, hacking.
Some service Stations - big chain - will not accept a debit card with less than $75.00 available............even if only purchasing $10 gas. :grr:

"Herb, your credit card company did approve the transaction.
It is my credit card authorizer that has decided for what ever reason you are a credit risk.
The group I have hired guarantees me my sale dollars as long as they approve the transaction.
My fraud has done down by 90% since I have hired them.
I will have to go with their advice on this issue."

From the response you received it does not appear to be you personally but instead to be his CC Authorizer. For whatever reason they have something against your CC Company and possibly it is other users of that card have made charge backs. I would request who the authorizer is and for you to be able to request an explanation IN WRITING.

It's the vendors merchant account.
Obviously the card was good.
Just go elsewhere.

It's their loss, not yours.

No one is disputing the fact that the purchase was approved. It is the vendors payment guarantee service that declined it.

Makes no sense to have 2 services when one makes you money and the other screams no. Paying twice and losing sales.

Glad I retired
