now if they had customer info hacked several times and made no changes....thats an issue and i'd avoid that person.

I just sent emails to the vendors I purchased from informing them that my card was hacked. I'm wondering if it will do any good. Will they even look into this issue? If they have had similar problems in the past, will they even be willing to inform me of that? Businesses do not like to admit they are having problems as it tends to scare off customers. Surely they must realize that by being honest and telling me they are having security issues, it would more than likely cost them my business. I'm sure the vendors would like to remedy any security issues as quickly as possible, but how would I know when placing another order would be safe? Do I take their word for it?

It seems as if trying to determine which vendors to avoid, by asking the vendors themselves, could be considered an exercise in futility.

I will have to wait for their replies(if any) to see how forthcoming they are.

Not necessarily.
My vendor in question replied back immediately. Admitted that they had this before ("...been there..." is an exact extract from their communication) and confirmed that (1)They had "changed" their CC processor earlier, (2)They have informed this (mine) issue to them, and asked to take 'corrective measures', AND (3)That they r unable to source 'any other' CC processor, no one seems to be interested(!).

Besides, they extended me a refund (beat that!) AND offered me her personal PAYPAL hereon, though that option isn't listed in their website. To top it all -- they send me a shipment note day before, of some goody-bag on my way... I'm not sure what'd be inside, neither they r divulging... but hey, isn't that customer service par excellence? That's what I'm talking about... our vape-vendors might be helpless... but they r concerned.

The last vendor that offered me a goodie bag.
Due to woefully slow processing.
Actually sent me nothing more than what was purchased.
I paid for Priority Mail & got rooked.
Their juice is awesome. But I'm not buying from them again.
I know hey can't respond here. But I'm ok with that.
I sort of got what I paid for from Velvet Cloud.

Halo offered to send me three full bottles to sample.
It's stuff from their new eVo line.
Already tried the Whisper, which was bought on a whim from AltSmoke. It's the smoothest thing I've ever vaped, even at 24 mg.
Similar to Tribeca, but with a smoked plum finish.
Obviously Halo will always get my business.

The VISA people called today, asked about a couple of charges which I did not make. Recent ecig related purchases were made from vaporkings.com and liquidxpress.com, both of which I've never used before until now. BTW, this is the first CC fraud ever that I've had.

I noticed earlier a lot of people mentioning AVEjuice, which I've never ordered from before (their DNS registration looked suspicious to me -- the korean stuff listen in it).

I really didn't trust vaporkings.com either because their domain registration is private, but it looks owned by (edit) They had an item I wanted so .... stupid me, I ordered from them.

Liquidxpress.com is also a private registration, which I probably won't be ordering from again either until I find out which of these two are responsible for sure.

Anyhow, I should have known better, but the VISA people caught this (they seemed onto the culprits now). Normally I do not conduct business with anyone that hides their DNS registration and/or does not have their address listened on their website.

If they are hiding, don't trust them!!! Always check their DNS registration and/or website and try to validate the info, especially when ordering ejuice .. I mean, what if they don't like YOU and spit in it, lol, who you gonna hunt down?

BTW, someone mentioned using prepaid VISA gift cards when ordering online. I would strongly recommend against that. Have you ever tried to resolve a dispute when using a gift card? First, you'll likely have to resolve the issue over the phone instead of at a bank, and that usually means long wait times on hold waiting for the "next available agent." Secondly, every time you call they will want to charge you a dollar to talk to them, and they will take it from your gift card (or if it's empty, you'll have to come up with another card to charge the dollar on). USBank does that -- CROOKS (it's why I only bank with credit unions). Third, you will have to wait a long time before the dispute is resolved and the money is returned to your card balance (took 10 days for me).

Best bet is to set up a separate sub-account at your bank tied to a VISA debit card and then make sure 1) you can transfer from your checking or savings account into that new account, and 2) that automatic transfers to not happen.

You really should keep your internet purchases separate from your other credit/debit card. Imagine being on vacation when THEY decide to jack your account. That hasn't happened to me, but it's something I'm always paranoid about when traveling, having your plastic stop working, EEK!

I'm not doing business with the processor or hacker.
If my money is put at risk, I blame the vendor.
We usually hear about the same ones getting hit.

those of you who blame the vendors, your best bet is probably going to be to find a B&M and only use cash. the only time we have had our # stolen was at a restaurant.

As has been pointed out most processors will not work with Ecig company's. so we live with what we have. I would keep shopping with hacked vendors but only with prepaid cards.

I don't know why so many people seem to ignore this fact!

I've ordered from vaporkings quite a few times in the last few years. I've never had a problem. and liquid express has satisfied customers too. I don't know or care about DNS stuff. I've ordered and been happy and safe.

actually, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is see if your cc provider offers a virtual # or shopsafe or something similar. I use citibank and get a one time use virtual # for my purchases.

I used vapor kings last month and I'm still standing. The one thing Buddhism has taught me is nothing is permanent and safety is a illusion. Try to be as safe as you can but I could die typing this post. If I get hacked I have faith that my bank will fix it. I don't have savings or overdraft and 95% of the month I have under a dollar to my name. Vendors are trying to stay open and processing company's are making it hard. Don't they deserve to feed themselves and family's. it is not like they are trying to hurt there customer base. :)

It's a two way street...either the vendor's ordering system isn't secure or the units we are using to order from the vendors aren't secure...

Ordering online...all processed through the internet. From us to the vendors: goes from our computer/tablet/etc. through our ISP, their ISP, and most likely through other channels, then to the vendors.

Use a credit card that has fraud protection...not a debit card that uses liquid assets.

I heard PayPal shut down eCigs, and won't process for them. Did I hear wrong?

you did not hear wrong , that is correct. unless you are not in the US. and if they think you are dealing in/with Ecigs it's very likely they will shut down your account and whoever you are dealing with. never never mention ecigs, this forum or your username on PP
