im trying desperatly to get my step dad to quit smoking...hes a huge chain smoker at least 2 packs a day i have no doubt that he hits 3 sometimes...i easily talked my mom into getting the 510 and she is in, its great, and she got my step dad a set too which he likes but hes not fully in yet and he mentioned to me he would love it if he could get a pipe and i said they ahve them so i dont know ANYTHING about them...i looked around and they look reallllly expensive so any suggestions on where to get them for the price and also the likes and dislikes about each type...i know there is a 601? i think and a lady pipe but thats all i know (im assuming the lady pipe is also the mini) so fill me in

Shawn at Litecigusa has them as well, or at least he used to. I'd still recommend health cabin or heaven's gifts though as they give 6 month warranties. Eastmall is 30 days IIRC and Litecig is like 14 days from the time of ordering.

One other thing to note, the lady/mini pipe is quite a bit smaller and uses 801 atties that you can replace easily. The 601 is larger and the atty is built into the wooden body of the pipe meaning you have to replace the whole thing.

which means it ends up as a very expensive atomizer.. because they fail and wear out just like any cheap 901 atomizer does.. throwing a beautifully made hardwood and brass thing away away simply because its heater coil thing has failed is a piece of design idiocy.. i have a bag full of dead ones.. he he

the lady pipe was very popular when it first arrived many months ago but dosnt get much of a mention now.. its basically a classic atomizer with a bigger battery.. its weakness was the auto switch in the pipe bowl failing... i think again it meant buying a new pipe..

same thing.. dead pipes.. they are all built in.. we when thru ten before giving up on them.. this is the original 601 not the much later lady pipe.. they are nice when they are working.. good battery life and such which is why we tried hard with them but they just didnt live long enough..

If your dad likes tinkering with things, you might get him a full pipe and encourage him to try to fix it if it goes bad, and show him some of the mods people have tried on their e-pipes, like this one: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/38953-semi-repost-epipe-mod.html

And of course, there are lots of box mods, flashlight mods and other projects that could be all sorts of fun for a guy who likes playing with a soldering iron or a lathe. Maybe point him to the Battery Mods forum here, and let him take a look at what people are doing.

As a former pipe smoker (keep your minds out of the gutter), I own and have used both the lady(mini) pipe and the DSE601. The lady pipe is fine for what it is... an 801 atomizer on a slightly longer lasting battery, but it in no way replicates the tactile (both hand, and mouth) enjoyment of smoking a pipe. The DSE601, however, does so almost perfectly. The size and weight are spot on. The draw, however, is a bit too airy and loose. It draws like a loosely packed bowl.

I have two lady pipe kits with spares just sitting around in a box. My DSE601 gets used frequently. If he's a regular pipe smoker, I think the DSE601 is the way to go. I got mine from Heaven's Gifts because of the 1 year warranty. It comes from China, but they ship EMS and it arrives very quickly. No problems with Customs so far (after like 6 orders).

The DSE601 is a very nice device; one that I use everyday. The manufacturer estimates the atomizer will last from 20,000-30,000 puffs. For me, that is about a three month life span. A light vaper could easily see six months of use from the e-pipe atomizer.

The best deal is from Heaven Gifts. The starter kit runs around $57; replacement atomizers are around $38. They have a very adequate one year warranty on the atomizer. I have exchanged three atomizers under this warranty with no problems.

Does HG require you to send the atty back to them first? Pay for shipping both ways, wait for them to inspect, etc etc?

of course they do which is why the chinese can get away with offering silly warranties.. folks rarely go to the trouble of taking them up..

a chinese warranty would be (and often is) a year... a western seller offers 14 days on the same product..

why folks are so easily taken in by this chinese warranty stuff amazes me..

as for getting your dad to try fixing the 601 pipes... take my word for it from someone who really tried hard to go with them its not possible.. i have spent many hours trying... he he he

still bad advice from people that really have little idea of what they are talking about is what this place is about..

three people testing 601 pipes.. i loved the bloody things.. over ten pipes used all day and every day.. end conclusion.. they had an average life expectancy of two weeks.. not fit for anything other than light occasional use.. not cost effective simply because the entire pipe had to be replaced every time the atomizer goes wimpy... the transistor switch dies.. or for some other reason they cease to work..

they are also impossible to get apart and fix.. and the chinese tell fibs.. still an opinion is just an opinion even one from someone who knows... he he he

let the nonsense (and chinese whispers) carry on as it always does and no doubt always will.. its the nature of busy forums.. have your fun just dont take much notice of what you read.. he he he

I have one on order from VapoRich.com I have not received it yet, but I have received other items from him with no problems and the pipe was a little bit cheaper than the bigger suppliers. He did have to special order it for me though. I am hoping that it will be the thing that will help me give up the last few analogs I still smoke
