Curious about my e-cig First Puff Cough?

I'm just wondering why when I take the first couple of puffs of my e-cig (ie: first of the day or first after a long while using it) that it makes me want to cough; it's almost like I've taken a big drag of some very stong ciggie- or that first time you inhaled a real analog.

Also; I get a really dry mouth with my e-cigs but it's ok if I have my e-cigs with a cup of coffee/drink -or- if I chew gum while smoking them. Anyone else found a better way to get rid of their dry mouth?
I use VG Ecopure and Totally Wicked PG liquids at high strenght (24mg?)

Cheer all :)

I have been vaping some 24mg/ml stuff that I diluted down with flavor and VG quite a bit. Was trying to improve the flavor and ended up with some unknown weaker juice. After vaping it for about 4 days I got a new bottle of a flavor I wanted to try also in 24 mg/ml. Just as a taste test vaped it and made me cough every single time. Tasted great though but made me cough.

I started with DIY 22 mg/ml and now vaping that unknown weaker stuff maybe about 16-20 mg/ml. Maybe the higher nic levels are unsuitable for you and you need to drop it down.

I have been off analogs for about 2 months now and I still can't vape in the morning right away. It makes me cough and it's not from a tickle in my throats it's coming from the lungs.
However, that being said...I don't mind, I just don't open my eyes and vape right away, I wait until the coffee is done :)

It's much better than when I smoked analogs and I couldn't breathe at all when I woke up in the morning.

That very first vape in the morning will always be strong because your throat and lungs have been in a very relaxed and "healing" state for some hours. I am very sensitive to PG myself and have to either purchase and use VG-based e-juice or most of the time I cut down any PG-based juices with VG. Both the PG and the nicotine in higher levels can hit your throat pretty hard first thing in the morning.

This may sound silly, but what works for me is to take my first few vapes in the morning very short and light but with my lips partially open around my cart. This way I am drawing in about 50% air and 50% vapor (hence a thinner vape). I draw this into my mouth, let it sit for a couple of seconds, then inhale it lightly into my lungs with plenty of air. This works for me anyway.

Like anything else, vaping has a lot of little "learning curves" to it.

Hope this helps.

I've only been vaping for 6 days now but if I take a large long drag I cough. I have to take smaller drags in order to thwart the coughing. Although the more I take longer drags and dont cough the next day my lungs arent as likely to cough with bigger drags. It's certainly getting better and better each day though.

I've only been vaping for about a month, but I did notice the same problem a little bit when I first started(24mg liquid). I think part of it was lungs riddled with a bunch of tar and some of it was break in with my ecig. When I first got my ecig I needed something to drink while I was vaping to help cool my throat. Now that the lungs are used to vaping and everything is broken in the first morning drag feels a lot smoother, no cough.

Thanks all; great relief to know that I'm not the only one. I have been taking the first few of the day smaller and easier until my throat/lungs adjust to it and that's been helping.
Interesting about if poss being a high nic content...drat...Just ordered some 36mg stuff because I was convinced I'd get better hits and lots more flavour from the higher strenght stuff-DOH! :) :)

It takes most of us a while to figure out what nicotine level is best for us. Don't despair! Even if you find that you do better with a slightly lower level, you can drip a couple of drops on your atty or on your cartridge filler when you feel like you need a boost of nicotine. Or you could mix it with some lower or no nic liquid and bring it down to what you need. No worries... you have time to figure it all out!

And drink lots of water!
