was curious as to how ID effects flavor. Watching DJLs review of the OBS engine nano and near the end of the review he mentions that a 3.5 will be better for flavor.

Is this due to airflow being able to go thru the coil more than a smaller ID? If that’s true why would people make them smaller rather than larger.

Thanks.

Basically IMHO the easiest way to describe the difference would be that the larger diameter has more surface area.
It also fills more of the deck so there isn't as much space.
Most people feel the more compressed the deck is the better the flavor is.

The variation is the larger the coil, the more power required (typically) and the more heat.

There are a million ways to look at it in regards to flavor, cloud, heat on the inhale etc...
That seems to be more where the hobbyist side comes in. With all the shinyitis purchases then you have to play with them to get the vape you like. What 1 person runs in their rta may not work for you, id say it's more of a guideline.

Probably raised more questions lol, if so ask, that's what we are here for.

Smaller coils heat up faster than larger ones. If you were a cloud chaser before the modern gear came out, than you probably wrapped coils around a syringe somewhere along the way to get big clouds. There's no reason to build like that anymore with higher amp batteries and 200 watt regulated mods. Now you can deliver more power to the coil, so bigger coils are advantageous. This is because they hold more wicking, so they can deliver more juice. As a result, you get better flavor because your wicks aren't going dry halfway through every hit.

As per the Engine Nano specifically, I believe the posts are close together on that one. If so, you are limited in how long your coil can be, so opting for a larger id is a way to increase surface area when you can't add wraps.
