work in progress... yesterday i posted the removal of the original artwork:

here's the progress:

my phone cam doesn't capture the color very well, but it's a dark iridescent blue/copper, depending on how the light hits it. i'm not done painting but i wanted to get'r functional again and thought i'd post a progress pic. i'm also taking the paint slowly because i want to make sure the leather remains supple.

i replaced the waxed thread that it was laced with, and the leather neck strap, with satin finish nylon coated 7 strand stainless steel wire. (braided for the necklace portion).

once i'm completely done i'll break out the real camera for detail shots.

slighter--considering the durability of multi strand wire (it's 7 strand), nylon, and the fact that it's 3 strands of *that* braided--i would assume it's pretty durable.

i'll post more pics tomorrow, bout half through painting the design. vaporfully. :D

leaford, thanks--wait for the high res pics tho. ;) these are just so i remember what i did. and this entire project has been powered by butterscotch 24 mg, and you invented the lanyard to start with so... good job YOU, sir. ;)
