We have just had 800 units detained by customs, our apologizes to those that have been waiting for our latest shipment, we will be rectifying this shortly, just a small glitch in the program.

Some here, got 300 units detained by customs yesterday. Are you sorted?

What did you do to get your shipment?

Cheers

Hi Kin,

The stoppage of our goods was just a formality check, you have customs and then you have what they call the CBC or Customs Boarder Control, customs is just to do with the collection of Vat and Duties their job is to make sure the goods are in good order and not a violation of any law, the CBC are higher than customs, the CBC randomly select imports and do a complete inspection ie open all the goods, their job is to check for contraband and drugs etc, all you need to do is wait it is a two week process from the time they take you stuff till the time they inspect the goods and give it the ok.

For those that have been waiting we should have our new shipment on Tuesday the 22/10

Next day the package was received! Customs changed their minds? Who knows.

I now have a shipment of e-cigs stopped for under declared value, send them the invoice so I suppose all will be ok.

BTW. I declared the e-cigs as vaporizers as it is sort of what they are. With all the troubles Internationally I am to scared to say the word electronic and cigarettes in the same sentence :) Probably the word cigarettes on a declaration paper makes any customs officer sit upright.

Stephen, what do you declare the e-cigs as?

Regards.

It's a bummer man. I checked the tracking site this morning again and I see it is still stuck at customs

Do they levy any import duties except of cause for the VAT on electronic atomizers?

We have registered as importers not to long ago and have a import number. I suppose the best to do is to go to customs and get a clearance certificate for the e-cigs.

I do not even know if that is possible though.

Hi Kin,

They do not levy any duties only VAT, but they are looking at a new levy for every product that has a mains plug, the levy will be something like R1 per product, when I know more about it I will let you know. Apart from that how are your sales going? If its a bit slow now just hang in, when we started in September 2008 we were lucky if we sold 50 units in a month, now a year later we are doing 20 times that a month.

A tip I learned early on do not spread yourself thin, meaning keep to 2 or 3 models max, find a good one that you happy with and work it, you will have far less headaches and supply issues etc

Also wanted to ask you how much ejuice do you import a month, if you importing more than 2L a month contact me.
