Hi, i am currently in the process of considering ordering a super six with a t-tip for dripping, now i am thinking i will get a 801 adjustable adapter even though i have not tried an 801 but from what i have read it sounds right up my alley. that being said since i have made this decision i could only think of doing one thing ...sorry if someone has posted this before...but i have not found anything on it

what if you cut the 801 catomizer smaller? (cut off the section where the cartridge would go since it is a waste of space when dripping anyways) this would make for a much smaller set up...maybe even hotter vapor since there is less distance from the atty and your mouth? i wish i had an 801 atomizer to try it but right now i dont even know how much you could cut off. thanks a lot.

I have wondered the same thing. I like 801's, but would like them shorter. They do taper a little near the tip end, so that diameter would be a little bigger if the atomizer was shortened. I'm guessing that the O-ring on the T-tip would make the tip fit, but there may be a little "ledge" where the outside diameter of the atomizer and the tip would be a little different. If you do it, please post back. Also, let us know what you used to cut the atomizer. Thanks!

A couple months ago I realized that a shorter atty would have some advantages for dripping: easier to hit the bridge, warmer vapor, less internal condensation, shorter overall length.

I asked our machinist at work to cut down a used 801 atty. He shortened it 20mm, which is the distance that the white portion of the cartridge protrudes from the mouthpiece.

The inside diameter of the shortened atty was noticeably larger and the mouthpiece was a very loose fit in it.

I'll ask the machinist to make a Delrin tip for it after I get the time to draw up a sketch with dimensions.

The next size larger o-ring would be a loose fit in the groove.

You might be able to just shim the bottom of the o-ring groove to make the o-ring stand out farther, since you only need to gain about .005" on the radius. Fold a tiny strip of aluminum foil, place that in the o-ring groove and then put the ring back on.

I'm sure they sell o-rings with the same inside diameter but with a larger outside. I could be wrong but most multi size boxes of o-rings I've ever come across had several o-rings with the same size inside with different outside diameters.

Thanks, that's exactly the info that I needed.

Although I've been looking into just getting 302s which are supposed to be like what 306s are to the 510 and I loooove me some 306s.

Has anyone just tried the stock oring and a cut down atomizer yet? I haven't...lol.

You're so busy that you make me laugh. God bless. =)

We spoke about this via email about 6 weeks ago. I cut almost 3/4" off an 801 atty for the very purpose that OP suggested. Because of the 801's taper the T-Tip falls into the larger hole. The T-Tip's o-ring will NOT make up for the difference in size -- ie, it doesn't work. =)
