I made it through childhood in one piece waaaaaaaayyy long time ago, before bicycle helmets, carseats, and childproof anything.

I saw some yuppie the other day, with his 4-year-old on a bike with training wheels, the kid was wearing a helmet that was nearly as big as he was. I felt sorry for the tyke.

Common sense should prevail when parenting (which includes keeping household poisons and medications out of the reach of children) but I sometimes really wonder what we're creating with all this coddling - "oh my, junior fell down and got dirty, where's the anti-bacterial soap?!!!"

I know!!! I was thinking the same thing. Survival of the fittest was all the rage when I was a kid. I think that's what going wrong with the current gene pool. Too many soft headed children grew up and are procreating weaker and weaker kids!!

They're a joke... no better than the "bat boy spotted", or "Britney probed by aliens" tabloids you see crazy people reading.

But yes, unfortunately, people do read it... I have no idea why... but they do.
