Hey Walrus wish I knew you when my daughter was going to the Copes center in Baton Rouge and later when she went to LSU for college. (I'm a friend of Bill W. too since 1997, but I'm sure you figured that out. Three one day icy patches so that's not my real anniversary year.)

taukimada nice video, never heard that song. (BTW. Is that an analog in your hand?)

taukimada, I was teasing you. I haven't had much luck on quitting totally either, but I'm beginning to believe that it is more due to hardware and having the wrong flavor cart.s.

But, due to the PV's, I have cut down quite a bit. And, I finally found a flavor I like RY4. I'm 3pk/day on analogs and vaped mostly 0 nic last night.

Gargled with soda pop last night and finally did not wake up with a sore throat. Used Terapon's (might have spelt his name incorrectly, the guy with the kitty dressed as a chicken avatar) theory of cleaning an atomizer with RC and applied that theory to my throat,... and voila, first morning with no sore throat.

I'm gonna get there and so will you... we're the turtles in the tortoise and the hare race. And, progress toward our goals is all that matters.

BTW. I think it's DCrist who makes really realistic covers for PV's that look like big ash ends.

Wow, in my opinion, I think it takes way more willpower for 'you people' who can still have analogs around and still smoke a few a day. For me, it has to be all or none. It was reasonably easy to quit completely after 20 years, as long as I had e-cigs (and no threat of running out) to replace them. I have not cheated once, simply because I can't. 1 cigarette would put me back into the spiral again and I would be trapped with wanting more and more until I'm back to almost 2 packs a day. In one week, I would be so sick again I would cough constantly and not be able to walk 10 feet to the bathroom without having a coughing spasm that ends in me throwing up all over myself. What a nightmare. And yes, I still miss it....but this e-cig has done alot to replace those needs and I find it just as satisfying after meals and driving etc. Unless the damn thng goes on the fritz, and then lives are in danger! LOL. But seriously, if you really want to quit, you have to quit teasing yourself with analogs. The love affair will never end if you keep going back for the "benefits", if you know what I mean.

Monkey..

i knew you were teasing.. there's just that quick kneejerk reaction that lead me to qualify it :) i really do hope vaping works for you.. lord knows im fighting my own stress and hardware demons to try to get it working again

Wildsky..

thank you ever so kindly :)

booboo..

glad to hear it's working for you.. keep up the good fight... for me.. i never intended to quit.. for years now i've been given unsolicited advice at every turn that i should quit smoking.. and i always answer it with the fact that i'm no fool... i KNOW it's bad.. but i STILL like it..

since finding vaping i've somewhat changed that opinion... i'm fighting to convince myself that i still enjoy the ACT of smoking.. but i am tired of the detremental side of it.. it's working in theory ;), but i must admit.. i still likes my analogs too much to just toss them away.. but i'm working on it :)

Hey booboo, I'm wondering along the lines of genetics...
I've been 3pk/da since around 18yrs. In my youth, when in my employers physical training, I never quit and ran a 1 1/2miles in 11 minutes. Not the least bit winded.

Now, in senior years, took the heart stress test and did not get the least bit winded. At home I do run the stairs constantly... about 30 up flights a day (or 60 round trips up and down)

Some of the flavors that I've tried make me really nausious... like Marlboro.

So, I'm thinking maybe they will find genetic links. (My grandfather lived into his late 90s and smoked all his life... since I think around 9yrs old... when he used to steal bread off the horse and buggy trucks to feed his family.)

So, maybe that is why some people have it a little easier than others and/or maybe what you described really, really helps in quitting... the sick feeling from analogs.

Any way, nice to make your acquaintance, booboo!

Oh, it is definitely genetics, and you are very lucky to have yours! Lol. I see "old" people smoking every day who aren't hacking up a lung or too winded to walk 2 feet without needing to rest and I am so jealous. I wanted to be buried with a cigarette in my mouth, I loved it so much. But my genetics suck!
My grandpa died of emphysema in his 40's, my mother died of a lung abcess at 44, her sister of pneumonia at 42, and their other sister had severe copd at 40 and was advised to get on the lung transplant list. I was doing fine until I hit 31, and it was straight down from there. At 34, I was so miserable, I couldn't take it any more.
I mean I basically had to stay immobile because my lungs just wouldn't work any more. I don't mean nauseous sick, just ill from my lungs aching and being tired and worn out and coughing my brains out all the time. Ecigs have helped alot. But it was like a curve. At first, it was 180 degrees better, I could breathe, didn't cough at all, and felt great. Now, after about 10 weeks, my lungs are getting weak again and I am huffing and puffing and coughing a bit. Not like before, but enough to worry me that this is going to turn out the same, dammit!

I just read this again and I am sooooo jealous! LOL. I mean the only reason I stopped short of 2 packs a day was because I'd have keeled over dead on the spot with just one more cig....lol. But you can have as many as you want and still run around? Man, life is so unfair! (DUH!)

YouTube - Tauki singing She Talks to Angels by The Black Crowes

i was not horribly drunk that night.. but getting close LOL

okay, here's my review:

at the 1:14 mark - i'm thinking, "hmmm not a whole lot of vapor there, might try adding some glycerin".

at the 4:20 mark - you could have easily tipped into a Joe Cocker impersonation. lol

seriously though, taukimada

very nice. i love that song too.

booboo you just went to the top of my prayer list for healing. Hope that's OK with you. In fact, starting now, I will only vape for the next 24hrs. and give any amount of discomfort to be put toward your healing.

By any chance are you on blood pressure medicine? Some blood pressure medicine screws up the lungs. My mother, non-smoker, got emphasema from blood pressure medicine. When I had her meds switched out, after several months her breathing improved. Also, when she is anywhere near even a small quantity of mold she needs her inhailer about 10X more often.

So, check for mold anywhere where you live and/or work. If you take blood pressure meds check the med's homepage and/or pharmacy insert.

Wishing you the best. You already got some suffering here... just had to talk with my stressed out daughter on the phone... would have definitely had an analog had I not promised you 24hrs.
