Bullmanure. Guy is an absolute idiot as concerned to metallurgy. He is not qualified.
The only thing I agree with him that more research is needed, but not only about nickel, but about any material used for coils, including kanthal. However I believe dangers are not too big.
EDIT: I believe (just believe) the safest coil material for inhaling as of for today is titanium, but I like kanthal better.

As long as the wick and coil stay under 550 to 600F and stay wet at those temps, there is no danger of nickel beginning to deteriorate into the vapor aerosol. Reaching its melting point of 800F, not happening as the mods max out at 600F/300C. Alien made a good point above, kanthal can be more toxic than nickel can be, iron, aluminium, nickel, chromium, and ceramic depending on grade and who manufactured it. As with anything in life, you have to play with your toys the way they were properly designed, don't go over its operating specifications.

Theres so much speculation about possible risks in vaping at the moment. Only with more time and research will things become more clear. Untill then If you have personal concerns about something my advice would be to do as much reseach as you can into it then make your own informed decision.
Nickel's melting point is 2651°F. I can assure you the wire we vape does not melt even when it's glowing deep red
Pretty harmless substance. Do not put it in your lungs by shovels and everything will be good. The same could be said about salt, sugar, sand, etc.
The way i see it is if you are using a tempreture control device and the unit malfunctions and over heats the coil you could end up with lung cancer . not worth the risk.

Moot issue for me anyway. I vape at 3.00 ohms ......... not 0.03 ohms.
I get 1.0 hour/100ma from a battery .......... not 0.1 hours/100ma.
I get 3 hits/drop from my juice ........... not use up 3 drop/hit.
I can get exactly the same temperature, throat hit, and flavor ......... without the cloud.
What I love about TC tho' is that it cons people into vaping at ~15 watts while they THINK they're vaping at 150 watts.
Personally; I already know how to vape at ~15 watts.

I have a mod that only goes to 15w (volts actually) and no amount of money I threw at that thing gives anything like a good vape to me. Kayfuns, Russians and on and on. STM at 1.5Ω wasn't to bad if I liked sucking on a mod for 10 seconds every minute. If this was all that was available I'd not smoke I don't think but vaping would be long gone from me.
TC gives me an ok vape. Its not my thing so I rarely use it but its alright. If its all I had I'd would have to choose between getting used to it and quitting vaping.

No worries. I'm a hybrid. I like a restrictive lung hit. 90 percent of people who have vaped the last 3 years were tootle puffers. Including me. I used to love tiny clearos and the nautilus. The lung hitting scene is new. Yes some people did rda on mechs and still do. But the explosion of regulated boxes and sub ohm tanks that are pretty much plug and play has killed that. Well some of the mech scene. I personally love rda's. BTW just wondering what nic level do you use. I found I couldn't really step down in level well I did once while tootle puffing I guess. Of course ymmv
