However, when I first started this hobby I read all about how alcohol could explode ETC. But then I read about dissolving
stevia in alcohol to sweeten your juice. So, you never know.
If I were you I'd put a bit of corn syrup in a throw away ce4 and go for it b4 I put flavoring, nicotine, ETC into the mix.
Please, Let us know how your improv alchemy turns out.

Not rubbing alcohol. Don't drink it either. Isopropyl or ethyl goes on the outside not on the inside.
Use vodka or Ever Clear. Good for all kinds of extractions.

Here's the question though... when mixing DIY juice, are the chemicals PG and VG the only two one could use, or would a mixture of, say, watered down light corn syrup serve well as a base...

Could be dangerous if tried, being that I'm certain the sugar would cake up on the coils, however, has anyone got suggestions? Other than DON'T Do that.. because I hate being told that something isn't possible. I'me one of those annoying people who will try almost anything to prove someone wrong...

Ok, so the people here have (dry) senses of humor. To answer some questions, im looking to start mixing, and merely acquiring research on alternatives, or potential alternatives to a juice that is composed of PG, VG, or some combination of the two.

I started to just ignore this, but seriously, it's crap like this that will get vaping regulated to the point that folks who need it to stay off cigs won't be able to get it. I so hope you're joking, but you really don't sound like you are. People are gonna do what they're gonna do, and there is way more stupid out there, than there is ability to contain/counteract it. I'm trying really hard to not be harsh, but if it aint broke, don't fix it.

You want to experiment? What types of liquids have you put in your gas tank to see if you can get your car to run better/cheaper? I really don't mean this as an attack, but for reals.......this kind of stuff can seriously screw it up for all of us.

I would suggest you read the many informative threads on ecf regarding DIY. A lot of times if you google your question, it will take you to the forum here on ecf that you need to peruse. Have fun and happy mixing to you.

Nope! Not flamed. I appreciate the honesty, and yes, I am serious. Not for commercial applications though, merely personal use.

Which means that our new comrade would most likely take one puff of acrid black smoke, cough like a madman for a few minutes, and then move on to bigger and better things.

There's an alternative to PG out there I'd like to try but it's outrageously expensive sooooo, not going to happen.

It's PG but plant based - I find myself wondering if it would be less/more harsh than PG and if it's thinner or thicker, etc. Studies I've read suggest it would be no less/more harmful than PG. There's been talk in this forum going back as far as 2009 about it but I don't know that anyone has ever tried.

I wonder if we should crowdsource and try it out?

Not to be mean, but I wonder how many people said that about flying, yet here we are... going to space, commercial airlines, private jets, helicopters. You can't have advancement without a few people who are willing to challenge what other people say. Pioneer? No, I amn't. Curious and willing to explore alternative theories, absolutely.
