My son's third Christmas I went a little nuts... :D He was a very VERY tactile child, and loved exploring everything in the house. I think the kitchen knives stayed on top of the fridge that whole year LOL.

Anyway, his stocking that year included such items as a roll of bubble wrap, a whole coconut, and every funky little dollar store toy I could find. It took him an hour to go through it all, squealing with delight at the coconut (even though he had NO idea what it was, he loved the feel of it!!) and gleefully stomping every bit of the bubble wrap before he would even consider moving on to the treasures hidden farther down. I had so much fun watching that innocent joy, recapturing just a little bit of my own childhood in the process!

Note to parents who want to do this: don't "ruin" the coconut by splitting it, even if they really do want to know what's inside!!

My Christmas Story
When me and my brother were younger we where what you would call "Little Buggers" not exactly those words but you know what I'm saying :) I've hated X-mas since the of the age of 6 (thats a whole other story) still do but the kids love it so that puts a lil' joy into it. Anyway every year my father, now that I'm older was the funnest gut in the world, would give me and my brother a present that was box in a box in a box and so on, until the last box that had a piece of coal in it. LOL yea coal and we fell for it almost every year :p But this one year was unforgettable :) Every year we watch The Christmas Story, and I still do, and every year me a my brother would ask for a Red Rider BB Gun but being us it probably wasn't the greatest idea HAHA To make a long story short my father pulled the Coal Scam again but exactly like the movie in every way we found our Red Riders that year :D He set us up for it to before X-Mas and we had no idea LOL Awesome! Because of that I will never forget that X-Mas and I still to this day have that Red Rider BB Gun 17 years later.
I've told this story a million times but it never gets old to me HAHAHA

another christmas moment thats sits deeply in my brain is the year nintendo came out. i wanted one so bad, and woke up to unwrap an atari 2600....i was bummed, so being the ungrateful spoiled crappy kid i was, i made my parents feel horrible. and i made them return it and get me a nintendo! 25yrs later and i wish i had the atari instead of the nintendo. luckily my parents have forgiven me for being such a lil a$$hole! but, ill never forgive myself... Im getting ready to be a daddy myself comming up in march and im almost positive my son is gonna put me through all the crap i put my folks through and i deserve every bit of it!!!

My favourite Christmas was when I was around 6 years old. My brother and I woke up Christmas morning to the sound of something odd. We looked out the window, and to this day, SWEAR we saw Santa flying across the sky. Now whether we saw something or not, the odd part of this day was about to begin. We gathered in the livingroom with the family to do our Christmas traditions. What we all found odd was the stereo was on and was playing our Christmas record. Nobody in the house had put it on and our stereo had broken not a week earlier. We were all in shock. We sang songs all day and unwrapped gifts. The very next day the stereo went back to not working. We call that our gift from Santa that year.

I had come home from school and in class we had just covered how to write a news story and what journalism was, and the teacher read us "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus"...I knew then that there was no magical guy coming, but the spirit of the season was what was important.

I got the mail when I got home and saw that the letters sent to the North Pole from the previous week were stamped returned with a note that these were keepsakes. So, I hid the letters and gave them to my dad after dinner when no one was looking. He asked me straight up "Do you still believe in Santa?" I shook my head no. He told me to come downstairs after my sister and brother went to sleep. That night I helped put bicycles together and stuff the tree skirt with previously hidden presents as well as wrap last minute gifts. I'll never forget the look on my siblings faces the next morning, and the special secret I shared with my parents that year.

One of the funniest Christmas moments was during a family gift exchange/gift steal. My then 16 year old nephew managed to pick the 1800 Cuervo with Margarita Mix and Glasses. Of course the next person had to steal it from him rather than unwrap a new gift. Then he had to pick again and what do you suppose he got? That's right more Alcohol! Of course we couldn't let him keep it. But he did end up with a $50 Best Buy Gift Certificate and he was happy with that.

My favorite christmas time memory is from 5 years ago. My youngest son was born on December 22nd. My doctor let me leave the hospital the very next day because of the holidays. It was also the last year my mom was at my house for christmas-after that year she was having health problems and now lives in a nursing home.

I am very excited for this year, my son will be 5 and actually understands he has a birthday, it only happens once a year, and he wants the cake and ice cream :) So this year will probably make a good christmas time memory as well!

A few years ago (QUITE a few LOL) when I was still living with my parents, but "too old" to get into Christmas...my older brother knocked on my door and said, in a "ghostly" voice:

"I'm the ghost of Christmas past"

I reached over, cycled the shotgun I kept by the bed (empty of course) and he said in the same voice "I'll come back later"

Another Christmas memory from when I was small. On Xmas eve my father and I went to look at lights. My mother had to stay home and iron. When we got back, Santa had been there. Our house consisted of two rooms. As I sat playing with my doll house, I could not get over the fact that my mother had not seen Santa come when she was right in there ironing. Funny some of the memories that seem like they happened just yesterday.
