Aloha, everyone!

I understand both points of view perfectly. I don't generally wash and reuse, and 4-5 ml of e-liquid is all I'm willing to put through a carto. But there are ways to keep them performing better and longer.

One is to buy quality cartomizers. I am very happy with my Turbos from VaporNine (kr8), SLB 510, and 4081 (SmokeStik-expensive, Good Prophets-reasonable). The two last ones have an inner coil like an atty, not a rigid wire like kr8s, and this design seems to be more burn resistant. I always open them up before I use them to inspect the inside and to make sure the inner air flow tube is centered and the filler is saturated but not overfilled.

The e-liquid selection is also critical in assuring that your carto will last. I found that high-quality, light colored juices vaporize cleanly without clogging the cartos (or atties) prematurely. I had great success with Nhaler's, Vapor Station's and Halo's juices (but Halo is just outrageously expensive, IMO). The Backwoods Brew also sounds very promising. There are other suppliers, but I can only vouch for those mentioned above. Be very careful with all the crazy "bakery" and "dessert" flavors; they tend to contain a lot of additives, sweeteners, oils and colorings. Those tend to leave a lot of unvaporized residue on the heating coil and in the filler, thus contributing to early deterioration of the cartomizer.

Refill early, refill often, don't overvape, and if you have to wash, make sure the filler is completely dry before refilling.

Good luck!

If refilling is having to be done frequently, would the new (CE1) XL 808D1 be of any interest? Look how much longer it is.

John, the real issue is not so much how much liquid one can put in a carto, but how quickly that liquid can be wicked toward the heating coil. I've burned a lot of cartos that were still dripping wet. :p

Having said that, I've seen some promising reports about the new eGo cartomizer that holds, on paper, 2.5 ml and apparently wicks very well. It also costs 4 bucks. It's a carto that is designed more like an atty and a cart, but in one piece. The 4081 cartos are similar, albeit much smaller. I believe this design holds promise and is superior to the rigid wire running up the length of the batting like we see in all the kr808s.

They're great, I've been using them the past 3 days!
But I found out you should not put more than 2ml in them.

Whats the best thing to do with cartos? Only use them when your driving. Any other time a lr 901 atty with drip tip will blow a cartos doors off. Reason i say 901 is because they work on the kr808d-1 battery just fine ( at least mine do anyway ). Cartos just plain suck.
You're right! Cartos just plain suck. I was just plain sucking on one when I read this post. Now, it just so happened that I had a 901 atty on a KR808 battery laying here on my desk. I picked it up, put a few drops in it, and do you know what? It sucked with about the same taste as my carto. That's because I do NOT have a LR901 that will change the taste. It's a good thing, because my carto did not get blown away and it is still laying right there on my desk. Now that the atty is almost dry, I can go back to just plain sucking on the carto.

Slap my hands away from this keyboard! I ain't serious about nuthin'. Sucking is just a whole lot of fun....br

Not to get in the middle of the carto/atty fight, I extend the life of my cartos by wasting just a little juice. If the VG based juice I'm using contributes to clogging I take a syringe of juice and overfill the carto, suck it back, overfill it again, etc. The flushing gets most of the dark thick juice thinned and replaced with more better juice. Wastes a little, but clears up the taste some. Won't fix burnt.
