Thanks again everyone. I think she is always being watched because she likes to live on the edge!

Spaceballs, That is definitely going to be in the works. My daughter is still extremely angry about it -- I, on the other hand, dont really hold anything against the driver. I think it was an accident, pure and simple. He did stop and stayed until the police arrived and he has called the hospital and wanted to come visit her but she said no. From my point of view, the actions he has taken since the accident have shown me that he is a person of integrity and responsibility and I hold no hard feelings.

Glad to hear that the driver is taking responsibility and acting accordingly. Just be sure his motives are genuine, and not a way to avoid a lawsuit. He IS doing the best he can, though, so that is good. Very good.
It's really up to your daughter what action to take. I can definitely understand her anger! I would be livid in her situation. At the very least, the driver should receive a lengthy tongue lashing from your daughter, with the phrase "Pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way" repeated over and over.

Again, my warmest thoughts and deepest sympathy to you and yours. :)

I can certainly relate to your situation Dotma. 11 Months ago, a driver whipped into my lane and we hit head-on, each going 45-50 mph. She walked away without a scratch. I however, am still walking with a cane after having my kneecap put back together. The only two things I would tell your daughter is to be patient with her recovery and to be forgiving. I fumed for a month or so after my accident but then realized that I was only making myself miserable while the other person went about her normal life.

I have prayed and will continue to pray for her ... God Bless.

Here and back
Dotma, my thoughts are with you but please know she is already on the mend. If no vital organs were pierced during the fracture it's just a matter of time for healing. There isn't much (or anything really) they can do except to have her lay flat and still while the bones heal. I speak from experience, I was crushed between a boat and a dock piling and fractured my pelvis. I was in hospital for 3 weeks just laying there healing (I was 31 years old at the time) and I'm fine. I used crutches for about three days when returning home and found them to be more of a bother than help.

She's young and the process has begun! Hopefully she will have had a "collision with her mortality" which many young folks could benefit from and be extra careful in the future (I understand she was not at fault).

Best wishes for a speedy recovery - AJ

Here and back
Hey, there is always a silver lining, I lost 2 inches off my hips and I'm 3/4 inch taller. I do have a tip for her though, when the nurses/CNAs/Orderlys come in to check, bath and worst of all, transfer her to xray, don't let them pick her up (1, 2, 3, here we gooooooooo!!!!!) flying thought the air to a gurney for transport. That really set me back. If they couldn't "SEE" blood and guts, stitches, casts, etc., they figured your fair game for grabbing. Have them put a bed head to toe (long way to long way) and she can drag herself with an over head bar or they can drag her from the shoulders straight up to the gurney. This is Much less painful and doesn't undo the healing that has started. When they had me airborne a few times all I could "hear" internally was bones smashing againest bones. I put a stop to that!

Last, get her home as soon as you can, she'll recover faster.
