Hi all, I've recently purchased a davide bdc glassomizer and I've been getting dry hits from it. I've kept the watts down to 6.5 on my MVP, as it seems much worse if I go higher. I was using an iclear 30 before this, at 4.1 volts and never had any trouble (apart from leaking, but that's not too bothersome).
I have already tried removing the flavour wick in the hope that it would improve wicking, which it did, but it completely flooded in a matter of seconds. I've tried both of the supplied coils and get the same burnt taste every few hits. Has anyone else had this problem before? And can anyone help with a solution? I really enjoy it for the first couple of hits, but the burnt taste isn't very nice. Lol.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers everyone

From what I hear, the Davide is a knock off of the Protank? In which case, I imagine it has the same limitations and issues. It really does sound like a wicking issue, which is common. Instead of removing a whole flavor wick, try removing pieces until you strike the right balance. Also, are you letting the wicks prime before taking a hit? It's best to wait a full five minutes before attempting to fire it. Before firing, I also recommend taking a couple of priming puffs. Basically, puff without hit the fire button to draw more liquid into the wicks

Thanks for the speedy replies. I primed before using both coils, and I do take a few puffs every so often without firing. I've noticed that I'm not getting as many dry hits in the last hour, so I'm hoping that it just needed a little bedding in. I'm going to try to increase to 7 watts as I'm not getting enough th at the moment. Fingers crossed that I get no burning taste :)

Chain vaping can make it so that the wicks aren't able to soak in enough juice between hits. I have to admit, this is kind of the reason I kept looking at other toppers when I vaped from Mini Protanks mostly. I wanted to chain vape and not get a dry hit. I wound up settling on cartotanks. Basically, it's a cartomizer that you usually see on the end of a cigalike like Blu, but it has holes punched in the sides and gets put into a tank filled with liquid. As you hit, the carto is continually fed from the liquid in the tank. The cartos last a pretty long time this way. I can put a full 30 ml through one without getting a dry hit, flooding, or leaking, depending on the juice. I also found that chain vaping with one had far better results then with any clearo.

I only ever bought one mini Davide. I found the design (the look of it) and taste (flavour) very good.

The first thing I noticed was the design of the tank (where the base screws in).... more solid-with-holes than Kanger designs.

Removing a wick is only for thick juice (higher VG).... anything other is illogical. I found the thinner the liquid, the better it worked.

Eventually, it met it's end on the 17th hole whilst playing golf. I lost the drip tip on the tee and couldn't find it after the game. I never bought it back into service. None of my drip tips (510) fitted it. Good while it worked, with the right liquid...but essentially, a flawed product. Not as good as the mini Protank 1, of which I have 5 and never even considered the mini Protank 2.

:)

I have so many of these darn things. People are now sending me them almost weekly to review. I have two new designs upstairs.... they have had a few goes...but not yet decided on which are good.

I got 4 new liquids today as well.... I need to retire.... :( :)

I bought 2 of the dual coil Davide tanks. The first one the guy at the shop primed and showed me how to set it up. The second one I did myself. So far, knock on wood, I have not had any trouble out of either of them...aside from leaving my mod in the car, and what little heat there was that day caused my tank to leak out a bit.

It simply sounds like it may not be primed correctly. I don't chain vape, but I usually take 2-3 hits in a row without any issues.

The way he showed me to prime it was to fill it with juice, draw through it about 8 times without hitting the button and covering up the air holes. This will make a vacuum inside the tank to pull in the juice. After that it is ready to go.

Outside of that though, I don't know. I am fairly new to vaping, but so far this is working for me and I have not gotten any dry hits with either of the tanks yet.

I picked up the SMOK Telescopic ZMAX as my first mod. Right now I have it setup on 5.0 volts. It can switch between volts and watts, but I have yet to do anything different as I am unsure of the differences between the different settings. Not to mention every time I change the battery the settings default :/
