It has happened, or rather, is happening to me. From about day 5 on I started coughing up phlegm/mucous. A lot. I still am, but I also caught a chest cold during the past few weeks so that doesn't help. I was coughing up discolored phlegm for about a week and now it is mostly clear to slightly yellowish. Ride it out, I suspect it will pass after a few weeks as your cilia grow back and aids in bringing up the gunk from the smoking as your lungs heal (takes up to 6 months from what I was taught, discounting any permanent damage that is done to us that we don't fully recover from).

Good luck,

Carbon

I haven't had the cough up gunk yet, but my hacking smoker's cough is gone. If I start the cough up gunk thing, I'll be happy knowing it's because my lungs are working again. LOL

I did have a very minor reaction yesterday. It was VERY minor, but I think it's because the new juice I got and vaped all day was 60% VG. I've been vaping juices in the 20 to 30% VG level. I may have a slight sensitivity to VG because I was a little itchy -- not horrendous, but noticeable, and have a few times where I had a burning sensation in small areas, and my lips were a little tingly for a little while.

None of it was terrible, but it's something I'm going to watch. It kind of sucks if I can't use those 60% juices, they are really really good.

Well, I'm in my thirteenth day off analogs and I've started coughing up gunk. Alot of gunk. Is this normal? Am I hitting the "Your smoker's cough will get worse before it gets better." phase?

I never got that whole gunk thing myself, but I suppose each person's experiences vary a good deal... But well done on your progress so far letoatreides3508 :)

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

To infinity and beyond! Congrats on the anniverssary. What others said, but maybe see a doc if it doesn't clear up soon. You should not have a coloured discharge with the typical "purging" that occurs after quitting. Slightly yellow is normal, but green or brown is not. Brown is usually blood and should be looked at asap.

Again, congrats!

Thanks, you're probably right on that one too. I KNEW I wasn't drinking enough water, but I was too lazy yesterday to get up and get some, lol. I don't know why but some days I have a problem drinking enough water. Other days, no problem at all. That may have been it, not the VG

A very normal and a healthy sign that your lungs are trying to repair themselves. Good job for feeling crummy :)

What helped me a lot during this time was a tea I found at safeways called Breath Easy. I think its pretty comon at most markets. It helps loosen and clear out the gunk as well as soothed my aching lungs from the cough. It doesn't taste great but made me feel much better. Plenty of water too :)
