Well I jumped in with both feet. I have been smoking light cigs for 20 years, I work as a Firefighter/Paramedic and lately its been kicking my .... My blood pressure has been up, just dont feel healthy. So on the BP meds and I feel better, also decided to cut out the cigs. Bought a Zmax v1 and some vivi nova tanks and its been three days since I touched a analog smoke.

The Zmax is working great, the supplier shipped me a v1 Zmax instead of a v2, now I am not sure what to do. Send back the v1 or just enjoy it till it craps out.
i feel your pain sir. all of us have been right where you are right now. just know you made the right choice. you can succeed. it gets easier every day. soft spot for first responders. thanks for your hard work and commitment. the world is a better place with firefighters in it. :toast:

Congrats to all of you who have made the switch completely or drastically cut down.

As for me, I'm a little worried. Am I now addicted to TWO things--vaping AND smoking?!

After the first few days, I loved vaping so much--everything from the delivery system to the flavors to the smoothness to the actual throat hits (I had never heard that term before but I knew instantly exactly what that meant) to the health benefits to the elegant little piece of tech I just want to hold in my hand all the time--anyway, I was certain I would be giving up the analogs completely within days. But that has not happened yet. I was always a nighttime smoker--a nightcap and about 3-10 Kamel Lights in my garage exile/sanctum--and now at night I have still been smoking the logs. I thought I would naturally start wanting fewer and fewer since their taste pales in comparison to the delicious e-juice. But now I've done the math (and my S.O. has been giving me guff) and it seems I'm smoking as many cigarettes as I was pre-vaping. What is happening?!

I've already gone overboard investing in my new hobby, meanwhile I can't stop doing the mental "pocket check" each day to make sure I have "enough" smokes to make it through till the next day. Am I just not giving it enough effort? I've even been vaping all day, keeping a steady stream of nicotine in my system or whatever, in hopes that some night I just won't WANT to light up at all. But I still do.

Or am I just not giving it enough time? My S.O. (who got me my starter kit and has really encouraged and now pushed this thing) is not impressed. My only thought is that it could be the smoking + nightcap + "finally the kids are in bed and I can relax and let go the reins" mindset. I never smoked during the day or in front of the kids. So being banished to the garage in my mind has been synonymous with having my alone time. Maybe it's the garage I can't give up??

Is anyone else in the same boat?

Something is your post sounds so familiar. I too love the delivery system, the flavors, and the throat hit. I also three days ago exiled myself to the garage for my rum night cap and few smokes before bed.

No harm in craving the analogs. Just trust that vaping will give you the nicotine your body needs, you still get to experience smoking right down to the exhale. Its a mind screw...You can be analog smoke free. No more garage exile.. Vape in the livingroom instead.

Good luck

Since I posted, I forced myself to forgo the garage for one night--no analogs at all that day. I vaped like a fiend all day in preparation, then lay in bed watching TV and vaping till I basically passed out, eGo in hand.

Katyloo, in response to your questions, I am usually vaping either 12mg or 18mg. I have been mixing. I found that 100% PG gives me a headachy feeling, so I make sure to add some VG always. I've only been vaping for just under 3 weeks. Vaping at night also seems to get me too vamped up so I also got some 6mg to have then (when I'm essentially chain-vaping). I haven't tried only 6mg alone yet (without blending), but I want to--at night-- so I don't get some sort of nicotine overdose. Last night I managed just 3 analogs and the rest was all vaping. My flavors are so delicious that the logs are really starting to taste nasty, but I know I'm also still somewhat addicted to those untold toxic and addicted chemicals in the logs.

One drawback I'm finding to vaping is that it seems to make me really sleepy when I vape during the day. I'm drinking tons of water to combat the dryness, though, and I have a hunch that that will also help combat the sleepiness (?).

Didn't Mean to hijack the thread. Again, huge kudos to those of you who have made the switch completely and successfully!

Tank congratulations, it sounds like you are doing really well! I hope you are enjoying sitting on the firehouse couch blowing vape rings ...

Messalina, you might want to consider upping the nicotine during the day at least - it might be too low for you and upping it might also help with the daytime sleepiness. You could keep the lower nic for nighttime if you find you are otherwise staying awake - remember though trouble sleeping could be because of the combination of cigarettes and vaping in the evening, rather than just that the juice is too high.

Strong suggestion: change your habit so that you have your evening cigarettes before the kids are in bed (remind hubby he's supporting you in reducing your smoking so maybe he wouldn't mind taking on some extra childcare duty ...) then come back inside to tuck them in etc - I think you will find that is helpful.
... in otherwords yes I am fairly sure you are at least somewhat addicted to the "at-last-I-can-relax-without-any-demands-on-me" ... and who can blame you; it is a great feeling! Just try to divorce it from the cigarette association. Good luck!
