So I ordered this Smoketech Mega dual coil Carto kit last week. It came with two 1100v batteries, almost fully charged. It produces great vapor and throat hits. I really like it. But this Monday after I switched to another brand new dual coil clear catomizer to try some other juice, things do not go well.

After I used it for 30 minutes, no chain smoke, it seems the battery was continuing heat up even after I released the button. The LCD display did not show anything. I had to remove the Cartomizer, but after I removed it, the battery's LCD showed "charge" but I did not attach the charger. I had no idea what to do with it. And eventually, I could smell some burn plastic. When I got home, try to charge the battery using the wall charge, nothing, even the button did not flash. I think the battery is gone.

Then I took out the other 1100v Ego battery came with the kit, put the cartomizer on, vaped for one hour with no problem. I did realize that the vapor was a bit hotter than before. Then all of sudden, same thing happened to this battery also. It started to heat up without stopping, and unscrewed the cartomizer, the LCD showed "charge" status although I did not have the battery charged. I could feel there was a bit warm at the bottom of the battery(LCD display side). Then the burned plastic smell came again....

Now I have two dead batteries. I contact the vendor last night, not get response yet. Hope I can get a replacement. I don't know what to do now. I am not sure why this happened. Is it because of the dual coil cartomizer, or just the second cartomizer cause the problem. I vaped the first cartomizer from Jan.11 to Jan. 15 without any problem. Both batteries only charge twice.

Now I have to use the e-health cigarette I ordered from Dealextreme few month ago. To my suprise, that one's battery lasts longer although the performance is poor.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Sadly vendors sell low resistance cartomizers with proprietary ecig kits. Low resistance wasn't designed for these types of batteries. LR stresses the switches too much and causes death as you found out the hard way. If you like how the LR produces, I suggest getting Boge 2ohm cartomizers to try...under 2ohm and it can all take a turn for the worst. Hopefully, the vendor that you bought your kit from will contact you today or tomorrow and will replace them for you.

Boge cartomizers can be purchased at most vendors...just google low resistance Boge cartomizers.

I just got response from the vendor. They said the problem is casued by a short dead cartomizer. The cartomizer is also purchased at the same time from the vendor. Since the cartomizer is not covered by the warrenty, the batteries are not covered also. But they do offer some discount if I buy from them again.

I would personally like to know who that vendor is, so I don't order anything from them. A company that can't stand behind their product is a company that I'd rather not do business with. I understand not putting a warranty on the cartos, but the batteries should have been covered. If the two products do not work well together or shouldn't be used together than they shouldn't sell them together, and if they do they should be prepared to handle issues like yours. What ever happened to making your customers happy???

After couple emails exchange. They offered two extra batteries if I order another kit from them, that's like 40% off their regular prices.

I did not pay using credit card cas most Candian vendors do not accept CC payment.

BTW is there a way to find out if a cartmoizer has dead short when they arrive? Or how to prevent that happen. The carto I had seems to be OK at first.. for a couple hours, then it ruins the battery. Is there any sign to know a cartomizer is about to dead, I don't mind a dead cartomizers but I cannt take that if it ruins the battery which leave me a few days without any devices.

I guess you won't order from at all cause it is at north of the border. Thanks for the support, I should say what you said to the vendor.

if they're 1100mah batteries, they probably aren't genuine (joye) ego batteries. AFAIK, joye only makes 650, 900, and 1000mah ego batteries....therefore, you're more likely to run into the same problem if you order another kit from them.

btw, i have genuine ego batteries that i've put 1.7/1.5 LR's on lots of times, and EMDCC's on every day during the past few months -- they're a year old and still going strong.

I mostly use Boge 3.0 ohm (standard resistance) cartos and occasionally Boge 2.0 ohm (low resistance) cartos. Even though these are generally recognized as safe for fat batts, I always check their resistance with a multimeter before screwing them into batteries. A cheapie multimeter costs about $10 -- mighty cheap insurance against killing a battery! Boge cartos are made in China, and it's been my experience that about one in 20 are defective.

[sarcasm] Fancy that: defective goods manufactured in China! [/sarcasm]

Also, if you clean cartos, any kind of cartos, the cleaning process can cause them either to short out or break and present the battery with an open circuit. A shorted-out carto will kill most likely your battery. And filling a broken carto (either short or open circuit) just wastes e-liquid.

Word to the wise: get a multimeter!
