Murphy's oil soap seems to do a good job on walls, although you may need rinse bucket repeatedly and have a couple of rags you dont mind destroying. Wow there is a difference between white and Off-white.

Still not sure how I'm gonna clean the ceiling though

Honestly dont know the final answer, febreeze maybe??, cause I still havent gotten my sense of smell totally back yet. I can unfortunately smell actual second hand smoke from across the room now, but dont smell it when I come back inside the house yet. Will actually be a good day for me, means sense of smell is back and then I'll join the fight to remove all traces of analogs from the house.

The better my 'smeller' got, the more I scrubbed! Oxyclean and Orange Clean were my heros. We've had a '88 Ford Thunderbird in storage for the last 10 years, I can hardly wait to pull the cover off that.....ewww, I even burned a hole in the back seat trying to throw a cigarette out the window. Didn't work well.

febreeze for the soft furniture, and killz (super duper primer) and paint for walls.

Second the febreeze (although if the first can doesnt work for you there are commecial sprays that pack more punch, if you can stand their smell), be sure to clean the crud off the walls first. Just because the wall is all one color now doesnt mean it doesnt have a slimy film covering every inch, dont have to get it all off, but would help to remove AMAP before painting to improve finish, durability, etc. If your gonna go through the trouble of painting make sure you do it right.

Worst case scenario or to avoid the strong smell of pinesol, might look around for the smoke/rain damage guys and find someone with an ozone generator. Works just like a bug bomb but for odors. Set it up (one room at a time depending on size of generator) let it run closed up for a few hours then air out for thirty minutes. Check for smell, rinse and repeat as necessary. Just remember ozone at these levels is dangerous to breathe and can damage household plants as well. Again think bug bomb. Set it off and LEAVE, air the place out and hopefully nothing but the fresh smell after a lightning storm will remain. Dont know why I forgot to mention ozone treatment in my first reply, but at least I remembered this time.

doh! if I'd thought about that I'd have said it. I have access to one, my father in law bought to remove "son" smells..

Inside for a quick cleaning some kind of carpet vacuum dust. Clean everywhere, you will notice stains.. your nose may lead you to the tar buildup.

In the vehicle, murphys oil soap works very well mixed with hot water! Shampoo or steam the carpets. The cig smoke has gone into the car vent system, turning on the heat or ac will bring the smell back.

The orange based cleaning fluids have worked well for me. I first started with where I spend most of my time (in front of the computer) and worked my way out. Still going at it, but each day I do a little and I'm amazed at how nice the house smells. Some of the e-juice when vaped is almost like incense.
Also have started washing all my clothes and cleaned the drawers in the dressers as well as the closet. So now when I put things away, they won't pick up the stench.
I can't believe how I can now smell a smoker at a distance. And it just about makes me gag. I have to watch myself not to go up and start lecturing about the virtues of vaping. I might get punched in the nose....lol. Some peeps just don't get it. They don't mind the smell.
Now my problem is what to do about my friends who still smoke and come to the house. I'm politely telling them they can smoke outside and have put an ashtray out for them. They don't like it, but are getting the drift that I mean business and have no plans of stinking up the house again wit analog smells.
It's a feeling of freedom to me. I can now check out at the gas station and not even pay attention to the racks of analogs. No more midnight runs for a pack. So many positive things have happened and some of them even save money, like gas and the analogs themselves. Just wonderful......
