I'm currently on "take 2" of quitting... the first time, it was really easy; it was freezing outdoors and I was tired of having to put on 10 layers just for 10 mins of smoke. Went 115 days smoke-free... then a nasty case of appendicitis, surgery, 3 days of nausea/no food/no vape/couldn't drink water without gagging, and the hurt was on for an actual cigarette. So I gave in, hence the take 2.

One thing that helped me a lot, first time around, I'm trying again... keeping a tally of the ones you smoke per day. It's amazing how many you can smoke and not even realize it; I killed a whole pk yesterday, which just appalled me. So this morning I started again with the tallying. Only 4 so far today, which is great considering I killed 20 of 'em yesterday without even really trying.

One thing that's important though, is that it's a lot more important to be aware of the ones you DON'T smoke. Without that 110 days of smoke-free before I had my appendix out, I'd have been stuck in the hospital for 2 or 3 days for "breathing treatments" instead of discharged same day without a single breathing complication. So I don't feel too discouraged; when it really counted for me, when I had that gen'l anesthesia, I'd been smoke-free long enough that surgery was complication-free, and that's a huge deal for an asthmatic who spent 39 yrs chained to a damn cigarette.

Also, since apparently sterner measures are called for, yesterday I ordered some of the "WTA" (whole tobacco alkaloid) e-liquid. I didn't seem to need it, first time around, but I did experience some pretty awful depression at the 3-wk and 3-mo points, which apparently has to do with those other chemicals that are in cigarettes. Maybe this time I can avoid that, using the WTA.

If you still have cravings for a smoke, that's normal. Vape and smoke at first. Some try to quit and switch over 100% and then talk about how badly they miss smoking. That's normal, too.

I continued to smoke when I first started vaping. By the end of the first week I realized that I had smoked out of the same pack for over two days! That was a revelation. I decided that I would schedule my smoking and only smoke at certain times. So, I allowed myself a cigarette or two with my morning coffee and one after each meal. I allowed myself one before going to bed for a total of 6 a day.

That continued for quite a while until one day when I decided not to buy another pack. I still smoked for about two years, but only 6 a day. When I quit completely I had some mild cravings at first and I vaped harder on my 24mg juice. Each time they would go away. Most of those came at the appointed times I had been smoking, so they were habitual cravings. After a week or so, I no longer had an desire for a cigarette. I could be around smokers and not want one. I realized that I could have quit a LONG time before I actually quit the last few.

The key for those who have trouble vaping and quitting cigarettes is tapering off. That way you don't feel deprived and life gets better. Try smoking a few a day for a month and then stopping. The less you smoke, the more the addiction turns loose of you.

Thx for this, Dave... this seems right on-target for myself, not getting that feeling of deprivation -- I always have to quit things when the option is still there, or I feel panicked -- which actually played into my smoking again, last week -- when I quit before, I did it at my own pace, still had cigarettes here, so no panic, no deprivation, just choice -- but when those horrible cravings hit after all that medical drama, there wasn't a cigarette to be found and it drove me out of my mind, it felt so unfair, I felt so deprived and deprived of my own personal choice in the matter.

I like the scheduling idea a great deal. :thumb:

Isn't this the fake one? I thought Alien Visions made the "real" Bobas Bounty. I've never had either so forgive me if I'm wrong...

You are correct. The genuine Boba's Bounty is from Alien Visions, not Alien VAPOR. From what I have read on this forum, I would never get involved with the guy at Alien Vapor.

The biggest motivator for me was my health, my blood pressure was at stroke level. I was having debilitating migraines almost daily and felt like the walking dead everyday. I smoked the last analog I had one day and decided not to buy more. The hardest part for me was the habit of going to the store and buying a pack of smokes.

I have been analog free for 8 weeks now and will never go back. My blood pressure began to slowly come down and I am now at normal levels without medication. I am also nicotine free and feel better than I have in 15 years. The best part is I can do things with my kids and not feel like I can't breathe.

Motivation to quit is different for everyone, you have to find your motivation and think of it everytime you feel like buying those analogs. Vape, vape, vape and the urge will pass.
