Hey all,

I recently built a 5 strand of 30 ga twisted macro coil for shiggles (****s and giggles). 7 wraps on a 7/64" drill bit, reads out to 0.4ohms which puts me at roughly 30W. I estimate this wire to be equivalent to about 22ga.

I've been vaping on it and the vapor production and throat hit is INSANE, but flavor not so much. I can basically only "taste" the juice on the exhale when I'm blowing through my nose. I've been chain vaping like crazy before I built this coil so I may have developed a bit of zombie tongue, but I just want to see if others experience a loss in flavor too. I'd love for this to be my at home vape just because the sheer amount of vapor production entertains me, but if I could match that intensity on the flavor side, this set up will stay in my RDA for a while.

So basically, does more extreme wattage = less flavor? For the sub-ohmers out there, what wattage do you stay around for the best of all worlds (vapor, TH, flavor)?

I have found that specific types of coils have more impact on flavor production than than the resistance or wattage. I've never built a coil with twisted kanthal so I don't know about the flavor production, but what works best for me is a dual coil 10 wrap nano coil wicked through. Comes out to about .57 ohms and has great flavor.

Airhole positioning is vital. With my RDA even if the coil is aligned with the airhole but the coil is 5mm too low, the TH kills me. If I poke a needle thru the airhole and can't touch the coil, I just have to sort it out so that I can touch the coil, for absolutely perfect alignment.

.4ohms will be thirsty and hot. I'd wonder if you need to have a lot more eliquid in the wick than usual. More like pouring than dripping. I've been down to .6 ohms and flavour was outstanding, but that was dual coil. What RDA do you have? Someone with the same RDA will be able to give you better advice

What gauge? Just curious

Interesting. After reading that I've fumbled around with my coil positioning. Since my coil was wrapped around a rather large bit, when I looked into the airhole, all I could see was coil. I've moved it so that there's a slight space to see if that changes anything. I'll try it again once my batteries are all charged

0.4 ohms does drink though liquid quite fast but I won't really mind if I figure out how to bring out the flavor more.

I'm using an Atomic RDA
