zero nicotine? Oh no Cheeky....but it's better than not vaping at all. For me, nicotine changes the TH more than the flavor, but as i went to lower nic (8 mgs and a couple of flavors in 4 mg) i did bump the flavor percentage of most of my juices. The flavor doesn't seem qualitatively different for me.

Thanks for the links! I actually found a study on rabbit that showed that the group given 5.25mg nicotine had an 80% fusion rate, which was higher than the 0 nic group, as well as the 10mg group, but according to the neurosurgeon, but nicotine in any form & any dose will inhibit bone growth - I specifically asked about vaping & was shot down - nicotine = no-no  I may have to print out your links as well as the rabbit study I found & give it one more try.

Unfortunately that means that the wonderful stock pile of juice I have won't be getting used by me, and I'm going to have to start over with 0 nic! Gah! Oh well... 0 nic is better than failed spinal fusion surgeries! :)

0 nic is WAY better than failed spinal fusion surgeries. Looks like the effects of nic are somewhat controversial and even docs make the mistake of assuming that nic and smoking are the same thing  Though one of the studies i posted a link to said the the new vessels that are formed in response to nic don't completely compensate for the vasoconstriction caused by nic in a bone healing model..so better safe than sorry. (but if the cravings get too much, low nic is still better than going back to smoking)

Good luck!

Hey Deej! I know you're swamped right now, but I was hoping you could answer something for me.

It looks like there is a good chance I will have to got to 0nic within the next month or so, and stay there for a long time if I want to continue vaping (which I do).

Does nicotine affect the flavor of the juice, and if so, in what way? Will switching to 0 nic change the flavor of my beloved cantamelon?!?!

There should be no noticeable difference (other than throat hit). The nic I use is the "cleanest" I could find in regard to taste/odor.

Cheeky, I went to 0mg for a month in 2010. I really didn't notice a change in flavor.

On the plus side, vaping, even at 0mg, satisfied my oral fixation and the "what to do with my hands" part (and the liquids don't really darken over time if there is no nicotine in them.)

Minus was the fact that I learned I am addicted to nicotine. The only time I came close to starting again was after about a month of 0 nic. So now I do 6mg (which, with Deej's liquid translates at 4mg or 8mg, depending on my mood.) That's enough to take the edge off and, I can always chain vape if I need a little more nicotine on any given day.

My suggestion would be to stock up on cinnamon and peppermint gum -- anything that has a little bite -- so you can trick your mouth into thinking you had a little nicotine. And by the time you've finished fusing, you might find that you are completely weaned.

Good luck.

Thanks CES! Yes, better safe than sorry - failed back surgery isn't something I want to tempt the fates with, so... 0 nic it is! I am planning on keeping a small amount of 6 or 12mg on hand for "emergencies", and dose it out in small amounts (i.e., .5-1ml in a 3ml bottle to be dripped), and chain vape 0 nic the rest of the time - a small amount of 6-12mg is a whole lot better than suddenly finding myself with an empty pack of cigarettes and a full ashtray! :)

The Best of Luck Cheeky! Be well!!
Thank you Fani :)

YAY! You are wonderful Deej - I hoped your answer would be something along the lines of no difference in flavor! I don't mind losing throat hit, I prefer a mellower, smoother vape with little throat hit anyway, so no loss there!:banana::banana:

If the liquids don't really darken with time, then that should make cartos last a bit longer... yay!
I love that vaping takes care of the physical habit of smoking, and one of the reasons I intend to continue vaping is that it does satisfy the hand to mouth, deep breath in, exhale slowly ritual. (I think that's what was missing with my previous attempts to quit smoking!)
The gum is a great suggestion, and I'll probably use it for later surgeries, but if the ACDF (neck fusion) is done, I'll likely have difficulty swallowing/chewing, etc for a while, so that might not be feasible - maybe a cinnamon or peppermint (or combination!) juice would do the trick though :)

I thought I vaped a lot now (6-10ml/day), I can't imagine how much more I'll be vaping at 0nic lol I may wind up double fisting PVs for a while :D

There are definitely two addictions with smoking. Vaping, as far as I know, is the only one that addresses what I think of as "the mechanics" of smoking as well as the need for nicotine.

Altoids, Certs, Life Savers, Tic Tacs -- those types of things don't involve chewing or swallowing. :D

What strength do you vape now?

I'm dripping. I have bottles of Tahitian Vanilla, Apple, Black Cherry, Pear and Raspberry Taffy lined up in front of me. Each time I add a few drops, I use a different flavor. The results are simply deejlicious.

The Raspberry Taffy keeps trying to take over the whole enterprise. I love the flavor, but tis very dominant. It probably needs it's own atomizer. (Oddly, I'd expect the Black Cherry Taffy to do the same thing, but it doesn't.)

I  vaping! It has kept me off of the stinkies for months now, and I'm completely satisfied! I usually vape 12mg, but keep higher mg on hand (up to 24mg) to suit my needs. so... 98% 12mg, 1.5% 18mg & .5% 24mg (usually PMS induced lol)

Hard candy/mints are a great idea!!

Um.. do you like taffy by chance? :) I love mixing the deej juices while dripping, too - I may have to try the Raspberry Taffy, even if it is a flavor hog :) It sounds like you've got an orchard medley going on in your atty, and it sounds wonderfully deejlicious!

Nope. Don't like it at all. Especially the way Deej makes it. I also have an atomizer with Peppermint Taffy at hand at all time and I have Chocolate Taffy. Neither seemed to lend itself to this mash-up. (The Watermelon Taffy is the only one I didn't consider great so far.)

I bet the Peppermint Taffy in the same atty as the chocolate taffy would be a winner....

OMG!!!!!!! I had Peppermint Taffy in my hand as I opened the thread. I promptly grabbed the Chocolate Taffy from by box and poured a few drops in. I am in love. And, because I have 60ml of Peppermint Taffy wending it's way out of the Mixorium as we speak, I can dedicate my remaining 15ml to my Chocolate Peppermint Taffy.

THANK YOU!
