Looks like the State of New York needs to be edumacated...

Per CASAA, New York State Senator Kemp Hannon has proposed Bill S07635, which if enacted would prohibit all sales of electronic cigarettes. It amends New York Public Health Law, §1399-11, enacted in August 2000, which prohibited cigarette sellers and common carriers from shipping cigarettes directly to consumers.

CASAA has a Call to Action on it here: CASAA: New York State Call to Action

On my first read, it appears to only apply to hardware. If they amend to include refill liquid, then I will have little choice but to cease all sales to that State; not just hardware, but eliquid as well.

Not again. We went through this last year when some lady bozo in the Assembly (I think -- it may have been the Senate) wanted to protect us from those evil e-cigarettes which are designed to get children hooked on nicotine. She said that she had been able to quit smoking by having a plan and using the patch and so should we. (Lady -- First, I ain't quitting. I get a lot less nicotine than when I smoked, but my goal was to drop cigarettes, not to stop inhaling nicotine. Second, if I did want to use my PV to quit, why shouldn't I? You used what worked for you despite the fact that thousands of people quit cold turkey. Why did you get to use the product of your choice I don't?)

Just in case -- do you ship to Post Office (or Mail Box Etc) boxes? It won't pass but, if it does, I shall speed up my plans to learn how to make a Puck and I'll be renting a mail box near the PATH train exit in Hoboken, NJ.

In the meantime, I shall, of course, do whatever CASAA needs me to do.

I sent an email to every single email address listed in the call to action - NY may not affect me now, but Iron Monkey is from NY, still has family there, we both have friends there, he may want to move back some day (whimper... I can't do winters again!), and frankly, these ridiculous laws tend to have snowball effects. (Plus, this would affect suppliers in NY state)...

I guess the above is just my request that every send a letter to those on the NY Rules Committee to ask that they keep e-cigarette sales legal to adults, and say NO to S07635.

Done now :)

The amount of control sought by our elected officials is becoming more and more staggering, isn't it?

I noticed that one of the reasons they gave for "protecting" the citizens of New York was a 57 yo man who had a battery blow up in his mouth. I vaguely remember hearing something about that, but hadn't the guy done something to the battery or the protection circuit to turn it from a battery to an incendiary?

If we're thinking of the same incident, it was a guy who rather than using protected batts, went to Radio Shack... his wife is suing over the incident & once again I wonder what happened to personal responsibility! There's a long thread about the case if you search the forum :)

It was something like that Poeia! Seriously - we don't need the government to come in & take more rights away, we just need more adults to behave like adults, read instructions & warnings, and take personal responsibility if they fail to do so - it's your choice to buy the wrong batteries, it's your choice to leave them on the charger overnight/while you're out of the house, etc etc etc.

In happier news, Strawberry Champagne = nummy!

Edited to add: Please be advised, the switch to 0 nic is making me grumpy & prone to ranting... gentle nudges to have a vape or two of nic are welcome (I had a melt down yesterday morning - a few minutes of 12mg & I was back to my normal optimistic self :) )
