I had Prime up until October but I let it go :)

I order enough (sigh) that i do make up the shipping, and i watch some videos. Turns out to be the same price as netflix if you break it down into a monthly cost. Of course i still have netflix too, but since i don't have cable it's still a reasonable deal.

I'm probably going to let my Prime go too come this April. While I probably made more than my money back on shipping, I'm just not getting all the much out of the video service. Netflix pretty much has everything they do.

Thanks!

It's actually an open group rather than a page....but in case any one is interested

Some of those are gorgeous.
The advantages to mine are: 1) it only cost $6; 2) I won't lose it as it is bright yellow (which means no more searching for MIA eGos once I find the rest of them); 3) it's very easy to pick up all my eGos at once and move them out of reach of Poeia's beak and 4) it only cost $6.

Gravity is difficult to grasp. When I first got Annabella, she was clueless. She loved curling up inside my shirt but would dive in with no warning. I'd have to grab her before she went straight through and hit the floor. It took months before she understood that she needed to check with me if the shirt was tucked in.

This is the same bird who, when I put her on the cage, would stick her feet straight out and wait until she stopped moving. Sometimes that meant that she'd end up with her belly on the cage and her feet sticking straight down between the bars. It looked like one of those slapstick comedies with people falling through ceilings. Now she moves her feet so she can find a bar to put each one on.

No Netflix, no cable. That's why Prime is a reasonable price option for me.

I was hoping the video services would sort of compliment each other and sort of fill in each other's gaps. Instead it seems like there's way too much overlap. The free shipping is just a nice bonus, but I did use the heck out of it.

I'm not giving up Netflix and, based on the 2 month free trial I had, I'd say Hulu Plus did a much better job of complimenting Netflix. While Netflix (and AMZ) are great for older episodes and previous seasons, Hulu seems to concentrate on all of the latest. Plus it's got a lot to choose from to help alleviate the loss of cable. Like the latest shows from comedy channel, History channel, the latest Family guy and south park, even day time soap operas if you're into that.

Like Netflix once you have Hulu everything is included. There's no waiting and constant checking back to see if the season you want to see is still being charged money for. That's one thing that really irked me about AMZ. They'd send emails saying that this or that is now available, only to find out they want more $$ to watch.

As the free shipping qualifier went up to $35, anything my Dad needs that's less than that, I'll buy and have delivered to him. So that will be another advantage of having Prime.

He does have a major love affair going with Bounty towels. A case of them is $40+ so those he can continue to buy on his account. :D

LOL's Poeia, that will work :)

I subscribed to Charmin toliet paper and they almost immediately discontinued it in the subscribe & save program :glare:
But ... they've done that to me at least three time's now.

I have Prime too, mostly for the shipping advantage, but do occasionally watch some video. They are starting to buy exclusives, as well as produce their own shows (a la Netflix), so there will be less overlap at some point.

I also have Netflix & Hulu+. Mainly for the reasons already mentioned. I like having the choices; sometimes if it's not on one, it'll be on the other, but sometimes what I want to watch is not on any of them. Aereo is now available here in Dallas. I'm hoping they win the lawsuit w/the networks (whiny babies! lol), and if so, I'm definitely not getting cable when I move in January.

I noticed AMZ was ding their own exclusive stuff, but the 2 I really wanted to see still only have the single pilot up (after how many months?). Under the Dome wasn't bad, but it alone isn't enough to keep me subscribed.

I was reading about that Aereo, genius concept. It's one of those "why didn't I think of that?" things. I still do OK with my antenna for the local channels so I won't be needing it, but it's a good alternative.

If you want a better antenna, try the Mohu Leaf
Home of the #1 Rated Indoor HDTV Antenna - Mohu

Mine worked brilliantly at first. I got about 40 HDTV channels. But the canyons of NYC got to it. I still get the basic broadcast channels beautifully. People I've recommended it to who don't live surrounded by skyscrapers are blown away by the number of channels they get with great reception. (I'm thinking of upgrading to the newer, stronger version.)
