Now, isn't that odd? I have a pretty good idea of what the military does, but Congress?
I was in the Coast Guard during a shut down, under Reagan, we did not get paid, so we were allowed to purchase necessary items from the ships store on credit...shaving and bathing items, cigarettes etc...those with dependants could apply for help from a unit funded slush fund for emergency needs of crew and family, a loan of sorts which was to be paid back when they could. Morale tanks when there isn't a paycheck coming and not knowing when one will. This is bad.and them ... hats still get their checks, they should be tarred and feathered, the hole lot of them!
