It definitely doesn't taste like burnt tires or oil (Trust me, I know what that tastes like very well). It just isn't very flavorful. I get a hint of the flavor but not all of it

If your coil/wick is burnt, you'll recognize it immediately!
Believe me, there will be PLENTY of flavor! Just not the flavor you're looking for! :D

The smoke from the burnt juice mixes with the little bit of vapor you get. That's a burnt taste.

Coils that have been in too long begin to develop that from crusted juice on the coil and wick. If it's a factory atomizer, clean and dry burn (silica wicks only) or replace the head. If it's one you wound, recoil it with a new wick.

Sorry for being a smart@ss, couldn't resist.

Yeah you would know burnt taste... no mistaking it. It's hard to say what caused what you describe.

Three possibilities I can think of:

Different flavors reach the edge of a burning flavor at different power levels. For example, a tobacco flavor or a menthol can often taste good at quite a bit more power that a sweetened or fruit flavor.

The Istick has been discussed here on ECF as delivering somewhat higher power than the display shows also, so dialing it down may help. Some people are more sensitive to their power delivery than other, and it may be a cause for you. I can't vape at higher power unless it is really smooth, and this device may be adding some harshness.

Another possibility is that the remaining flavor from your previous vape is affecting the taste of what you switched to. In that case a good cleaning may help.

Good luck getting this straightened out!
