Dekang RY4 Burnt Taste

I know taste is a subjective matter, however I just received my first bottle of RY4 from a Canadian distributor and was extremely let down. It tastes burnt. Every tout tastes like a burning wood. I was expecting a nice tobacco flavour with some kind of nice caramel or vanilla undertone. I am using a new ego twist and Stardust 2.0 v3 2.4ohms and tried voltages between 3.2 and 4. Lowering the voltage seems to help a bit. Is this just a nasty batch of RY4 or is my gear to blame? I thought RY4 was supposed to the best. Ic ould not vape burning wood all day.

I just had this happen today with some DK RY4 but I think I have a fluke of understanding. I had just put a new head on a clean Kanger T2 and filled from my known 50ml stash of RY4 and let the wicks soak for a few minutes but probably not long enough, and my eGo was cranked up to 4.2v, and I got nasty burnt nasty over and over and then still nasty after going to lower voltage until I hit 3.2v and not nasty but no vapor and no taste.

So I put another new head on and let it wick a bit longer and started light at 3.2v and then cranked it back up to my normal 3.8 and all is well again.

I might have had a bad head, or chared it up on those first dryish drags. But it got me thinking that the RY4 is the only thing I currently vape at that low a voltage. Most stuff has a sweet spot around the 4.0-4.2 range on my T2s, but I've always prefered RY4 around 3.8 and find it burny at 4.0 or above. So I'm thinking there might be something in the DK version that is crap when it's too hot and spoiled that first head.

So, either it was a bad head, or that high v gunked the wick up with nasty burnt stuff. I won't know until I try cleaning the suspect head which.

Did you by chance start off at a high voltage first? I think I'm now going to start new heads/juices at low voltage and move up just to be on the safe side. :)

I believe I started at 4. The burnt taste has dissipated but it's still there. Sometimes worse than other touts. The gf tried and she looked like she was gonna hit the floor.

**UPDATE**

So I filled my 4 other Stardusts with other flavors and 1 out of 3 puffs taste burnt. I started the others at 3.2v and worked up to about 3.8 to 4.0 and it seems to kill the flavor and give burnt taste no matter what voltage. I then put my RY4 into an ego c tank and fired it up...... wow ... tastes great. How can I have 5 brand new bunk Stardusts? I am new to vaping but what could I be doing wrong. I have let them sit for hours and now overnight but still produce nasty puffs and ruin flavor.

Just tried them all again and it a two of the Stardusts are working ok, but vapor seems to be getting sparse. These damn things are brand new.
