My wife and I have been using the CE2 Deluxes aka Fluxomizers for a week now. I have been suffering the odd burned taste but my wife has gone through three different ones, all modded with the wick slot opened up and the lower seal lifted to allow better wicking. She is OK for an hour or two but then gets the dreaded burning taste.

Looking at these compared to my old syringe mod CE2 R5's the new indestructible tube is around a full mm less in diameter. I am beginning to wonder if in reducing the diameter of the tube in order to make a tight fit on the metal base they have screwed up the top section. The seals are way too tight and I am beginning to suspect that the narrower internal diameter is actually pinching the wicks against the side of the ceramic cup, causing these to be much more sensitive to juice thickness and prone to the dreaded burning juice taste.

I have this horrible sinking feeling that they have cured one set of problems but by reducing the tube diameter they have caused another :(

Thats interesting...I know mine are getting wicked fine it's either making the juice too hot or melting something on the inside, which I don't see but who knows

Well, I don't think yours are wicking fine actually. They may look like they are, ours looks fine too, nevertheless we have proved in quite extended use of the the CE2 R5's that the burned taste is caused by wicking problems, i.e. the juice is not being delivered to the coil area fast enough so what is there is getting overheated and burned, giving the nasties in the mouth :)

Later on I am going to try one of my syringe tubes on these new units to see if the restored diameter at the top makes the difference. I will report back!

Early days of course, but I have just taken one of the Deluxes that my wife could get nothing but burn taste from, took off the tube, washed it in hot water, dry burned it clean, and fitted one of my 3ml BD syringe tubes.

Firstly the seal rings now fit again and can be adjusted easily once more. Right from the first hit this thing is producing the old CE2 level of vapour and awesome flavour. Not the slightest hint of burn taste! And I'm getting that lovely RY4 mix sweetness on my tongue which was missing with the stock tubes.

Preliminary conclusions? The new extended metal base makes the Deluxes worth having, but the best can only be had from them by still doing the 3ml BD syringe mod. If only the factory would change the tube diameter! The new material is great, it's JUST TOO DAMN SMALL!!!!!

That got me curious. I took a peek at all of mine. I can see how you might push the ceramic cup up against the tube when you are digging the o-rings out. I haven't had any dry hit problems myself. The wicks all look fine... plenty of room on either side, and they are not being pinched up against the side of the tube. Take a look at yours. If the ceramic cup got pushed up against the tube, it might be pinching your wick. A small screwdriver or similar tool would be all you need to straighten it out.

All up in your grill..
When a clearo starts tasting nasty I can normally shake it vigorously for a few seconds and the bad taste goes away. This seems to work better with thinner juices but works for me even on pure vg bases. Try shaking it in a semi circle horizontally and then vertically a few times between the second and third puffs. It may help..

I noticed there aren't any rings in mine...maybe its just the regular sized ones but its just the cap and underneath it is the main stopper with the fill holes. No rings. Anyway I've completely disassembled one of them, dry burned it, made sure the wicks aren't being pinched or anything. I moved the stopper up. Theres plenty of room for the juice to get in there...plenty plenty. I'm dumb but not that dumb...i'm pretty certain its getting wicked fine. I know what a dry atty tastes like and thats not what this is. I'm getting giant clouds of vapor it just tastes...I don't even know how to describe it. Lets say it tastes like what I'd imagine burned juice would taste like.

The regular size doesn't have the ring, just the filler seal gasket or whatever it's called, the XL has the ring. Not sure what's happening with yours, sounds like you've done all the mods and it's getting juice, there's no reason I can think of it shouldn't be hitting like a champ. I have no problems with Bobas or Gorilla in mine. If your tube isn't completely full try flipping it over before each vape to make sure the liquid gets around the cup.

So I have an update on this. I got my VV Box Mod from Fox Box Mods yesterday and popped the exact same Fluxomizers on it and they work great. I can set it at the same voltage as my Ego and they still work great. Why the heck was my Ego burning the juice with these things? Doesn't really matter anymore because I'll be using this mod exclusively now but I am rather curious. Maybe theres a simple explanation...anyone know?
