New coil.. changed it up. Went with the coat hanger rod and 7 wraps of 30 awg coil. Came out to 1.98 ohms per coil. Dual coil on that is 1ohm. And it's freaking awesome now.

First time I've liked 30 awg coil. Bought it years ago and always was a no go the 2 times I've tried it.

I'll blame it on the cold but no wonder it was always a harsh hit haha.. metal taste and thought it was cause of the short top on the derringer. I'm like I don't know about this atty. Haha. vaping her like that for over a week now. Haha

Ahh.. there's the natural sweetness to the flavorless vg agsin I was missing. A little less wick then I normally run cause I was too lazy to cut a new piece but it's fine so far. Will keep an eye on it though.

I thank you super x on the flavorless juice. Another thing I've been doing the past year thanks to your videos.

Correction! Not the smallest size rod I was using, the one up from that. Like u said looks like 2mm. The size one would use for that ready x wick.

Measured one coil after I removed the one coil and it was 1.75ohms.

Next size up would be my custom old coat hanger rod hehe.

Id drop down to 8 wraps each and see if that helps. Also I don't twist the KGD except the tip to get it thru. KGD doesn't perform at its maximum potential of twisted like rolled cotton IMO. It's best to pull the straight strands thru :)

On another note.. praxis finally got ahold of me last night and told me to send the while new derringer in for replacement since my air holes on the cap seem to be cut too low. Cuts off rhe top of the air channels. Figured just the top would be replaced or they would just mail me a new top.

Said it was a prob with manufacturing and that they didn't catch it in time and was late with a 2500 atty run.

So I'm not too happy about paying to mail it back and waiting another week for them to get it and then waiting another week to get it back.

Seriously thinking about just keeping it and fixing it myself now. The middle post is tight and I'm afraid whatever I get back will have the spinning post issue.

Just itching to drill the feed hole as there's not much material in the center post left to drill out.. seems like just an 8th of an inch.

Could prob just keep it as is but thinking if I lower the air holes on the inner ring then I would not have to keep my coil so high off the deck near the lid to insure air flow under the coil.

You might want to rethink that... I would send the atty back to Praxis and have it replaced, then send it to Catfish to have it bottom fed... I believe the one you have has a copper screw in it and bad things can happen drilling those. Not easy if you don't know what you're doing or have the right machinery... I'd send it back and have it replaced though.

Just my :2c: here, I think where your problem lies is in the number of wraps... Those coils are still cooking your wick and whatever liquid remains in them long after you have released the firing button.... Long coils like that take a lot of time to heat up and just as long to cool down which would lead to cooking any and all liquid remaining in your wicks before you could even get a second hit on those coils.. As a few have mentioned, you can go with a larger diameter coil and less wraps to achieve what you are looking for, especially with cotton.... It has been almost 2yrs now since I vaped any coil that was over 6 wraps, for this very reason...

Perfect explanation!!! I went to slightly larger and less coils using KohGenDo. Check out SxD's video on using KGD.... it'll amaze you! Follow how he inserts it in the coil especially.

Mine is the newest 1.2v with ss post. I've managed to do the clone which also was a steel post I believe.. strange as it is gold plated.. wouldn't it have to be aluminum to benplated? Took me forever to drill threw though with my dremel as the post was mostly solid. Prob like a half hour or more.

Exactly!!^^^^^ Less playing with the wick is better! I think it gets too "tight" when it's rolled up, it seems to need to " breath".

New modded derringer v1.2 all done! Well I still gota order some needle files since I can't find them locally small enough.

Bought a dremel workbench (drill press) and some 1/16" drill bits and got it done today! Drilled without removing the center post. Carefully and slowly cause I did not want to cook the insulator and have the post spin or fall out heh. Raised juice holes cause I like a wet deck ;)
