One or two pulls and I feel like its going to melt. It gets hot enough to burn my lips and possibly burst my mustache into flames. I have it running on dual 28g coils at .48 ohms, 45watts and arrow box. What's up?

I know its a small atty and they can get hot , try a lower wattage.

I was running my Derringer at 0.6Ω and 50W. It got crazy hot. That's just the nature of a tiny rda at high power.
a lot has to do with how short there drip tips are, i went with the all white delrin derringer for that reason, mine barely gets hot

If you like your derringer and dont want to switch then id recomend a plastic or wood drip tip. Both of those dont conduct the heat as well and you can pull for a bit longer. Or you can try to find a tip that has heat sinks and that will help dissapate some of the heat a little quicker.
You can get a great vape with the derringer using a single coil at 1.4 ohms, 15 watts, PLENTY of vapor and LOTS of flavor. This dripper is so tiny it really doesn't need dual coils. I think R-trippers has a video on the single coil build.

More wraps (10/9 on 2mm is a good start for 28ga on regulated mods), more airflow, or less wattage.
I tried all sorts of tips on my .3 set up to try and cool it down. This one finally worked good. I can do long pulls on it and its still cool enough I can vape it dry. I think the ribs insulate my lips from the heat. Can be found at fasttech, sold as a two peice with a 2 puffs logo on it.

Buy yourself the Wife Bore top cap extension $24.99 at the local B&M. That solved my problems.
I had the same issue when i first purchased mine. Its currently my adv dripper as well. The short drip tip will get very hot esp since its so close to the coils. I hate how it creates nasty spit back too.

I was told the Derringer-specific drip tip is a 510 drip tip socket as well. So you can stick another drip tip in the drip tip. That should work, especially is one is plastic. Personally I just use my regular metal tip with 12-26 watt builds, I don't have the Derringer tip.

I'm using mine primarily on SMPL. About .6 ohm, dual 29 ga. It's kind of funny, cuz my son came over last week end and I was showing it to him (non-vaper/non-smoker) and he said "wow your lips must be getting fried with that thing". I thought about it and, nope, I feel zero heat to my mouth. Very, very little spitting, and when I do feel spitting, it's coming from the air holes, hitting my hand, not the drip tip. And I'm using the drip tip that came with it (the one with the lightning bolt on it) I did use it a few times on my vapor shark, but kept the watts around 17.
I run mine with a 1.5 to 1.8 ohm single coil at 8-10 watts. I kinda have to run a single coil because one of the screws won't hold. I also use a longer delrin tip. Only had it a couple of weeks and I actually like it a lot.
I have a single .9 ohm build in it now running at 40 to 50 watts and it does wonderful no spitting and no getting hot. Thanks guys.
