Hi to all , I an new to this site but have been vaping for about one year now I just wanted to warn new people about vaping certain flavors !

Stay away from all custards milky cream and some vanillas
anything with custard notes since they may cause popcorn lung !!!

some of these flavors contain trace amounts of Diacetyl , Acetoin , Acetyl propionyl ( trace amount is under 1% ) trance amounts still present a high risk according to exposure levels in parts per million .

BE CAREFUL AND vape SAFE !

A bit more precise information at the link below. It is long. Approx.2 hours. If you must take a break listen to the first part which covers how the testing was done, costs and the company that performed the testing. Then, take a break. The second part gets down to the details of what was found, how widespread, dangerous levels, how manufacturers avoid providing accurate information, and yes, the dreaded popcorn lung.

E-liquids are an unregulated industry where many manufacturers do not provide basic date made or batch code information. It is up to you to contact each manufacturer to determine if their products are safe. The link provides details, including the numbers, that will help you make that determination.

There is a much higher level of diketones in cigarettes than in any ejuice yet there are no cases of smokers developing "popcorn lung". Personally, with all I've read, I'm not really that worried about diketones. I'm more careful not to overheat my juices which will cause formeldyhide production which is a carcinogen.

I love the smell of diacetyl in the morning.

Seriously, is this stuff like the "trans fats" of the vape world? All this is what makes custard and cream flavors taste so good?

How long is this alleged popcorn lung suppose to take to develop, because I've been vaping bryce's vanilla custard, blue moo, vape room horchata and other flavors with that creamy flavor for over a year now and haven't had any shortness of breath or coughing. The only time I cough is if I take too big of a vape first thing in the morning before having my first cup of coffee ;)

There are no known cases o popcorn lung smoking OR vaping. That said, read the whole Dr. F thing.

Some diagnoses of COPD may be like popcorn lung, we just don't know.

Basically, he was concerned enough to do the study, and the diketone issue has been talked about here for well over 3 years, and companies like MOV and TPA/TFA have been replacing flavorings that have it with ones that don't.

The "jist" of Dr. Fs study is that he feels it is an "avoidable risk".

If you can't live w/out your custardy creamy vapes, that is just a decision you will have to make for yourself.

As for fact you have vaped a year and no adverse lung disease, keep in mind that most lung diseases like cancer, etc. require a cumulative time period, seems like around 20 years. We WILL NOT know all the safety issues for a long time, decades, until we cna study a LARGE GROUP of people who vape.......over time.

Vaping is harm reduction anyway, not harm free.

There are 2 camps to this:
People who quit smoking and want to take on as little risk since they have already compromised their lungs.

and

People who feel that since they smoked, taking on risk is not a big deal since vaping diketones is probably safer than smoking.

Me? 1st camp. Don't want it, don't want dyes, diketones, AP, butyric acid, sweeteners, etc. in my juice, less is more for more for me. I don't think a lot o this stuff is in ANY way good for my lungs.

Yes racehorse the info should be available so we can make our own decisions, but unless they find something in e-liquid that is a real threat I will just keep vaping what I like. Many vapers still think nicotine is poisonous too and are supper careful about handling it, nothing wrong with that but to me it's being over cautious.

Radium, arsenic, mercury were used in medicines until it was found out they are "a real threat"...

You forgot the third camp......People who understand that diketones in cigarettes have not cause popcorn lung in smokers in all the years of smoking so therefore don't worry about the reduced level of diketones in ejuice.

Yes but that's not the case here, we know what it is and how dangerous it was in stinkies at much higher doses (no popcorn lung reported) so yes we can't say it is 100% safe but we can look at it objectively and say the risk is small enough to ignore.
I eat many things in a way which is not the safest and basically for the same reason the bad stuff tastes good, that doesn't mean I live on bacon but I don't go can't eat it it's bad.
