DID clone rebuildable atomiser problems

hey guys, jus got one of these did clones and cant seem to get the thing working properly, if at all lol. when i make the coil it will fire up for about 2-3 times burning red just at the top instead of evenly down each turn of the wire, then the wire just breaks/burns out at the hotspot. the turns on the coil have been evenly spaced on each attempt i`v done, but same thing keeps happening. its as if the device i have is too powerful for the wire which was incuded in the kit and its frazzling te wire causing it to break, am i right in thinking this and i just need bigger wire, or is it something else i`m doing wrong? i realy wanna get this thing going soooooo bad lol. my device is an ego v6 which on its lowest voltage is 4 volts i think ..... Use a multimeter and measure the resistance of your coil. I suspect that you will need to make more coils. I would recommend between 1.5 and 3.0 ohms.

thanks for the reply. so when you say more coils you mean wrap it around the mesh wick more times. i`v tried it with 3-5 turns around the wick up to now, maybe i will try 6 or 7 turns around the wick.. its driving me mad i`m used to cartos and carto tanks but really wanna try these as iv heard its a cleaner vape, is this true? also can a normal multimetre be used like one an electrician mght have, (i hope that dont sound as stupid as i think it does!) only i think we have one in here somewhere. because i dont have one to screw on my device like you see on youtube vids

Just about any multimeter will work when placed on the ohms setting(omega). I have a very cheap multimeter that doesn't work well below 20 ohms but I can still make sure there isn't a short.

It is also a good practice to test the resistance before reinstalling the battery. Measure the resistance across the contacts that the battery will make with the button depressed. It should match up with the resistance across the post of your RBA.

You might want to wrap your coil a little looser around the mesh as well.

right i will try and find this multimetre and wrap the coil a little looser. thanks. sorry if this sounds dumb, but how do i measure the contacts the battery will make.

You will need to put one probe where the positive end of the battery makes contact and another one where the negative end makes contact. Or, place the negative contact on the threads where the bottom cap is screwed on.

Sorry about the unneeded info, since you are using an e-go you will only want to test where your battery makes contact with your atomizer. The other information is for mods that use more general batteries(18490's ect.... ).

right i gotcha. i will have another look for this multimetre, couldnt find it last night and dont worry about unneeded info, the more the better! i apreciate you replying i been thinking about trying a normal type wick in it also, like the stringy looking ones. seen some guy doing it on youtube, we`ll see tho, i would like to get this working like it should before i try modding the bugger lol. i`m gonna get some more wire, also is there a specific brand and gauge wire i should choose

Another factor you didnt provide us is the gauge wire you are using.
Problem also could be Ur mesh isn't oxidized enough causing a short.

hi mate thanks for the input. the mesh wick i`ve been using has had the sh#t burned out of it on my cooker as to oxidize it lol, i`ve been heating it up so it glows bright orange passing it all over the wick both ends, dipping it in water and repeating 5-6 times. i`m not sure which gauge wire came with the kit but its really thin, thats alls i know lol. my device vapes at 4 volts on its lowest setting, is there a certain gauge i should be using. alot of videos i`v watched on building coils seem to begin heating it on 3-3.7 volts, which is somthing i obviously cant do as my lowest is 4. any advice would be greatly appreciated

Just remember: The lower the gauge, the less resistance. I've found that I just like a good 'ol 32 gauge kanthal. It seems like a middle of the road resistance. That being said, I prefer lower resistance anyway.

i have to admit when it comes to resistance and ohms and stuff, i`m completely out of my depth lol. i thought when buying this, yeah piece of cake making these coils, i`ll have it fired up working perfectly in no time. how wrong was i! lol. the good news though, is i have my coil firing up all the way down without burning out now, YAY! watched a video of some guy who wraps the coil around a small drill bit the size of his wick, then slots the wick through the coil into the tank, which seems to have worked for me. the bad news is...... it tastes awful lol. i have a serious metalic taste coming through. its that strong i cant taste the flavour of the juice just this metal flavour. is this normal??
