Greetings; A local vape store that I trust sells what it calls 'debranded' batteries that are genuine (same mfc and same model) -- these are Vision Spinners, but it's not inconceivable that eGo does the same thing.

Have you contacted the seller to find out? If you're going to get a replacement, it'll pretty much have to come from the seller, forget contacting joyetech in my experience.

Ego is pretty much a generic name for a style of battery. If you mean Joyetech, here is a list of authorized resellers, Joyetech brand offline electronic cigarette shops

They also have a list of unauthorized and those selling counterfeits. http://www.joyetech.com/about/copycat.php

Home page Joyetech electronic cigarette, Tank System, Changeable System, eMode, eGo-CC, eVic, eRoll, eGo-C, eGo-T, 510-T, e-Liquid

Sounds like you have gotten knock offs, Joyetech Ego style are pretty well made. Anymore Ego refers to the battery style, so unless they represented it as a Joyetech, probably not much you can do if they don't stand behind it, other than shop elsewhere.

I agree with this if they didnt specifically say "genuine joyetech" ego's they are just ego style.

dealers have to adhere to a set of rules to be authorized joyetech dealers many who do not want to follow those conditions buy the copies.

I didn't buy one, I just noticed them on the website...but maybe I shouldn't trust this local store quite so much.

For my part, I now only buy properly labelled, 100% genuine products -- definitely no clones! -- because I did get burned some buying some ST Vivi Novas that I thought were the real thing. I found out that they were fakes after buying some genuine VN replacement heads, which of course didn't fit.

It's a good lesson that hopefully a lot of newcomers don't have to learn the hard way; given all the cheap knock-off crap coming from you-know-where, if there's any doubt about whether something is genuine, give it a miss.

I buy my Twists from MyVaporStore, and those have the "MVS" logo on the bottom, but I know that they are genuine Joyetech because MVS is an authorized Joyetech retailer.

EGO-C-TST-3.jpg

MVS is a first class vendor, they sell quality products and have superb shipping. I tend to stay away from no name ego style batteries, Joyetech, Vision, Kanger, all make a decent product. Not sure about the Smoktech Winder, really haven't heard much one way or another on those.

I will say my Joyetech 650 ego and my 1300 Vision Spinner are both excellent products.

Cignot is another 100% Joyetech authorized vendor. My old eGo batteries have the Cignot logo "branded" into the end cap, same as with MVS. Joyetech will do that end cap branding for vendors if requested.

Those 900 & 1000 mAh eGo batteries I got from Cignot waaaay back in April 2011 still work. And they were the only things I used for my first 9 months of vaping. Didn't see much use after 9 months - but they still work. Every so often I'll drop an EVOD on one of them - just because I can. So if you ask me my "ripoff" priced eGo's from Cignot were one of the best hardware purchases I ever made. You can only stretch that "where can I get the cheapest possible price on a..." game so far.

If the retailer tells you it's genuine and it isn't, that's a pretty ****** thing to do. I wouldn't go back for sure. However, there is a place for generic, brand less stuff. I've had a some smoking coworkers buy a generic, $15, VV, 650 mAh, passthrough battery that came with a USB cable and a generic, bottom coil clearo that took Evod coils in a blister pack. Since a pack of cigarettes cost $14 here, it was easy to get them to invest a dollar more to try vaping and see if they like it. So far, 3 have made the switch with it, and one is making it into a hobby like I am and buying up all this equipment. That little, generic, blister pack was an easy sale for the price, and does a decent job. I used it to quit smoking myself. After they used it for a bit and realized that they could do this, I pointed them to brand name stuff for the long haul.

No ones been had. Easy enough to go directly to the manufacturer/ factory and buy the exact same product without the brand name- cutting out the middleman and I looked into this when I considered opening a shop. When I was a student I worked for one of the largest paint manufacturers in N. America. You'd be surprised at how many lower priced paints came from the exact same vat that was also filling premium high priced paints. Same when Michelin tires were popular in the 80's- they were selling the exact same tire to Sears and could be purchased at a much lower price.

I totaly agree with your point, but this isnt sears this is joyetech.
as strict as they are with price fixing and even pulling peoples authorization for selling below the set prices, i really have a hard time believing they would say "oh but its ok if you sell our unbranded stuff for half price"

The poster you were referring to spoke of " A local vape store that I trust sells what it calls 'debranded' batteries that are genuine (same mfc and same model) -- these are Vision Spinners, but it's not inconceivable that eGo does the same thing."

Although JT keeps a tight rein on production because it's within their own factories it's not the same with other brands- Vision, Kanger, etc. outsource the manufacturing of their products. I actually looked into this aspect in regards to the SLB Kgo 2 yrs ago as the price difference was considerable and actually bought a few "debranded" Kgo Kits- they just recently burnt out.
These manufacturers have quite a bit of power and that's exactly how and why JT went from being strictly a manufacturer to a brand. The brands they were manufacturing for (Ovale, Janty) didn't realize this before it was too late.
