I paid $37.00 for 2 x $7.00 lg batteries from orbotronics in the states. It took 3 weeks to get here. The exchange rate is ridiculous right now and the shipping cost was expensive. If I could've found them in Canada which I couldn't at the time, they would be $15-$20 a piece anyways. Everything here is marked up but at least I can get my stuff in 2-3 days so I suck it up and pay the higher prices.

I paid $14 for an LG HG2 at Dashvapes, a B&M in Toronto, and had it immediately.

I was in the same position when I first starting vaping. I wanted it right now, so I paid more than it would have been online. If you have a really good warranty, that is another plus for buying it at your local B&M. Most online sites don't offer any warranty, so if it arrives DOA, you are screwed, at best a few weeks warranty. If you got a product that you like and were able to get information first-hand, it is worth the extra.

(Are we allowed to name an online company here??)

Again, there's no such thing as a "DNA RX200". The "Reuleaux DNA200" and the "Reuleaux RX200" are two different devices. Both are called "Reuleaux," but the "RX" one has the cheap (joyetech?) board and the one with the expensive Evolv board is just called "Reuleaux DNA200" with no "RX" in the name except for the ones in the word "reuleaux."

Oh God forgive me , didn't know some get bent on being so precise , the mod either has a DNA chip in it or it doesn't is my point . They look essentially the same to me .

The difference is the chip. Two mods were released almost side-by-side. The Reuleaux RX200 utilizes a Joyetech/Wismec chip board. The Reuleaux DNA200 has a DNA200 chip board by Evolv technologies.

B&M sellers will always cost more as they have more overhead. They could be paying $2000 per month alone for rent. Then add in hydro, heat, wages, payroll taxes and so on.

Some online sellers could be operating out if their basements where it's a tax deduction, not an expense.

Choice of location, etc. is all on the Owner and their planning. The basement operators still have expenses. Site expense, processing fees, labor, etc.

You would be surprised at just how similar cost can be.

Started my business in a Basement, out grew it quickly and open leased a better location. Out grew that one and located another 4x larger within 6 months.
Oddly, my pricing did not change..........unless product Cost increased.

Typical sales in a niche business of this type are 2x cost. A rather common practice with lower cost items. As cost increases markup generally suffers. However, $189 for an item costing(wholesale) $100 is not unreasonable in practice.
Customer Demand is also part of the sales formula.

Sorry for rambling, but a B&M charging $99 for a (wholesale) $26 item is a rip off.:nah:

Up here north of the US boarder it's a different story :( You can get it fast or cheep, but not both :(
We have a few good choices (dashvapes Canvapes) Fair prices 3 days or under to your door any were in Ontario :)
The US based websites have way better prices But our dollar is real low now and your looking at the better part of 2 weeks to your door :(
If you can wait? FT 3F GB have the best prices But 3 to 4 weeks for shipping :(

I hate paying too much but hate waiting too, I use a combination of both Canadian based websites and China depending on how fast I want it :)

In most Ontario vape shops, i have seen the following prices in CAD$:

RX200 - $79.00
3 x good 18650 batteries - $45
30ml juice - $15

So $140+tax= around $160.

You didn't get ripped, you paid retail. Unless a B&M buys dozens/hundreds of RX200's at once from China or wait for a 10-20% promo code (yup, they use Fasttech too), their cost is $35-45US for the mod. Not a ton of margin there.

Canvape is selling the RX200 for $70. They are my go-to supplier for hardware when they have what I'm looking for. I pick up at a flea market in the GTA on the weekend so I also save the shipping cost but have to pay HST. Dashvapes is good too, but generally a bit more expensive. I did get a couple of good deals from them when they had mods I was looking for on sale.

I bought a RX200 late last year from Vapenw for USD $40 plus $10 shipping. Got to me in about a week like usual for them. Saved around $10 CAD compared to buying locally, but had it been available here at the time I would have bought here.

I haven't found a good supplier for batteries in Canada yet. I've made a few purchases from Illumination Supply in the US over the years. Batteries like the Samsung 25R, LG HE2, etc generally sell for between USD $5 - $6 a piece, shipping is around $10 and they also get to me within a week.

I find Fasttech is actually more expensive for authentic hardware than some of the US retailers these days and I don't have to wait a month to get it. They generally can't be beat for clones though if you can wait for it.

Can anyone explain the difference between the DNA 200 and the standard chipset?
Both are temp control chips. The DNA has TCR Adjutment. The DNA is a hemi. The RX200 is a .......Pinto. both work well. Both are TC mods. Both are cheap Chinese crap but they do work. Dont drop the mod. There are many threads about marrying the three batteries for optimum performance. Both mods have firmware updates available right now. Both are very customizable.

To some, "paying retail" is synonymous with "getting raped." To others it is simply paying retail.

When I paid retail I always felt buyers remorse. It's why I rarely do it anymore unless I have no choice.

The OP didn't pay retail, the OP paid more than double. It happens. Just vape away your buyers remorse and try to avoid "paying retail" going forward.

We have all done it.

You shouldn't price gouge your customers because you chose a bad spot and have more rent then profit.

A lot of people implying joytech chips and dna200s are similar would be right. But my vtc mini is starting to act up on me where my vs dna200 is working like new. Hopefully this isn't a bad sign I really have been pushing the joytech chip devices to people.

These are complex chips but handle it differently. If your looking for simple these are not the best choices. Though both can be used as simple boxes.

The DNA 200 uses a computer to change settings. And it can do about 40 million things. For some people this is great fun. I don't like this part much myself. But once done the DNA200 is prolly the greatest chip made to date. I do love this chip.

The Joytech chip is all done on board. Press this buttun 3 timesa nd that one 6 times type stuff. I hate to say this but I've actually gotten to prefer the Joytech to the DNA for this reason. But I change tanks and settings often. For single tank with single setting it wouldn't matter.

I was gonna buy another DNA box but like the Joytech one so much I bought a Cuboid instead.
